Love the film-noir style shows from the 30s & 40s!

Lights....Cameras.......NO Action Each episode of season 9 is either a Hit or a MISS, this is a big MISS and MESS
Ed-Shullivan11 November 2018
Season 9 episode 7 is another disappointing episode in which the producers/director made a lame attempt at turning back the clock to the 1930's gangsta period before Hawaii was brought under the umbrella of the United States of America. The period clothes and cars were reminiscent of the 1930's period but the acting was high school level at best. Scott Caan was especially irritating in his attempt to highlight a more predominant nasal voice and the dream sequence of Steve McGarrett which helps him solve Hawaii's oldest missing persons case is actually missing any semblance of an interestig storyline.

I just find that each episode of the current Hawaii Five O season 9 can swing either way as either a big hit or a big miss, and this episode misses its target big time. It should have stayed buried like our missing person was for the past 80 plus years,

Makes no sense!

This episode is weird. It makes no sense. Steve's granddad died at Pearl Harbor attack. So it's a flashback in an alternate universe? Lame.

Wow- where to begin....

Stupid plot lines... Cheesy (at times idiotic) acting...

Plus you have the nonsense that Steve's grandfather was a cop- rather than the naval hero from earlier in the show.... Script writers need a good sorting out...

Beyond Poor...

Are they running out of ideas for the show. What is going on, this being the 200th episode. All I can say that this is beyond poor. Got to be the worst so far! The acting is poor too......

Dump Danny

The constat bickering between Danny and Steve is even worse in 1941.

Really ?

Warning: Spoilers
The scriptwriters must have ran out of stories, I would guess. It's OK to have an episode with a flashback to 1941, just a few days before the Japanese attack, and the story of the cold case was good but why are you using the same cast for this, it makes no sense and it makes this episode ridicules and stupid. The scenery and make-up of the cast was very good, really looking 1940's so were the cars and surroundings. But the same actors ???? A missed chance.

Can I be a scriptwriter please?

Because I couldn't do worse than this.

No it seems that McGarrett , who isn't even a cop despite the last scenes) can now solve crimes in his sleep. Crimes that even great detectives couldn't solve. It can be interesting to see the cast as different characters, Deep Space Nine did it quite effectively, but not this time.

Sadly there hasn't been much in this season to write home about, with the exception of Junior bringing back a soldier's body, and this continues the trend of mediocrity. On the plus side, at least the time wasting stupidity of the restaurant has been ditched. I never understood how that was going to work.

Love the 40' style but a missed opportunity
Mira-2932811 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I love the old 40' style. They put effort and risks to do it, love it. But the plot wasn't that great. It kind of irritate me that Steve can resolve an 80 years old case in one night or two. And not any case, no, a great mystery. It made no sense. How the grand father's best friend missed that? Seems to be a very lame cop. I would have like to have the old man narrating the past sequence and his own investigation then having the dream/resolving thing completing the whole case. Anyway, it was fun to see everyone in another role in the past even if the writers could have been more crazy with the distribution.

I was also so surpised by the end with Steve and Danny abandoning their restaurant. What?! We had this meh plot for more than a season just to end like that. A bit disappointed here. It could have at least blow up. Still weird for Danny to give up his retirement dream plan like that. I guess the show didn't have the money to keep the set or something.
