DocuDRAMA NOT Documentary
eastvan-264-2163397 March 2020
Came here to let everyone know that this is a DocuDRAMA as opposed to a documentary. Many parts are scripted and it doesn't come over as natural at all, to me. Shame, as I rarely get time to sit and watch things like this and I was looking forward to it (there's a joke in there somewhere). I requested a refund from my streaming service as I feel it was miscategorized as a documentary.

Chopped Up

Some interesting thoughts and philosophies put in a blender of scattered editing. Too many competing objectives in this film, not so much wound together into a cohesive whole, but tossed out of a bucket for the viewer to try and unravel. A shame too, as many of the threads are well worthy of investigation, discussion and contemplation.

THIS MOVIE IS FICTION.
khoras4 May 2020
Just to be absolutely clear... THIS MOVIE IS FICTION. It is NOT a documentary. It dresses itself up as a documentary and tries to pass itself off as a documentary. It does have some genuine interviews with real people (Ray Kurzweil, for example), but much of it is scripted. FM-2030 was a real man and he was cryogenically preserved, but that's it. The rest of this movie is fiction and scripted. And several of the scenes just have bad acting.

There are even sections that they pretend is footage of the real FM, but it's actually an Indian actor with make-up done up to look like FM. Those sections are done by filming a grainy TV image with a camera, so it's deliberately hard to see, but it's definitely an actor in makeup. Also, the "body" on the table at the end is DEFINITELY not FM. Much too young. Of course, by the end of the film, they have given up on the pretense that this is a documentary.

I was so disappointed. I saw this and it looked like a documentary and I was excited to learn more about FM, but I was SO disappointed by this film. It was also very long and drawn out. They could have told this story in half the length of time. If you want to learn more about FM 2030, look elsewhere. This movie shows very little of him.

I came with no expectations and appreciated masterful editing
nkaempfer14 October 2023
I found this docudrama on YouTube and watched it for free, having no prior expectations or knowledge about who FM is/ was, I got very intrigued to find out more and enjoyed being taken part of the editing process tremendously. The tension kept all along : Will the filmmaker be able to finish this 'first in a lifetime' revolutionary film?

I appreciate The format of a documentary where it is upto the end unclear and keeping the suspense whether if it is real or drama , it kept me asking and curious about our current existence in misinformation by media reality and reflect on how little we know what is really happening behind those billion dollars confidential high tech doors .

The dynamics between the 'egocentric yet self aware' film maker and the family of FM is fascinating, ( very plausibele but this of course would not had the containment if the story was real) , the commercial secrecy, the moral dissonance raised, the beautiful scenery, the various true philosophical questions raised here invites the audience to research more.

The client and his elite family are portrayed both as entitled but also as a deceived player against a promise$ making machine.. Actually a pity that this film didn't get more audience.
