Some cool moments but...
gauthier-lieber13 December 2019
This episode had some pretty cool moments. The space heist vibe is there, there were some cool references with the Xwings and the republic, and we could see the mando fight a bit more. In summary, some moments I loved.

However, there are a lot of things I found... Meh. First and foremost, this is now the third episode in a row that doesn't bring the story further at all. I really enjoyed the first three, because we discover baby Yoda, then he has powers, and we were wondering if Mando will fight to get him back. After that.. Run. Settle. Job. Run. Repeat. Give us a story to be passionate about, not some Dr. House-type episodes where it's the same scenario each time!

And finally: where do they find their guest actors ? It feels so overacted and amateurish, with awkward hand gestures and contacts, and weird things you'd expect to find in a series for young children. It's a weird mix of high-budget production, with a good main actor, but interconnected with what could be fan-made sequences.

In summary, I hope they go back to the feel of the first three episodes. Quickly.

Better than the last two
jacc-son13 December 2019
The bad:
  • Unoriginal premise: the first half of the episode is completely predictable
  • Basic characters: the dynamics between them could have been fleshed out more than just "We're all selfish and evil"
  • Still just an "adventure of the week" format with no overall plot, just filler

The good:
  • The twist(s) in the end: though these are still nothing particularly new, they still make it a bit more fun
  • Great music as always
  • Creative fights/takedowns done by Mando
  • Baby Yoda is still cute

An 80's throw back
lewispigntruffle13 December 2019
The good:

-Entertaining in a cheesy "aliens" sort of way -the mandalorian really gets to stretch his legs and show how much of an utter bad ass he is -the cast is great (we'll come back to that) -as usual; the visuals are on point

The bad

-the previously mentioned stellar cast are totally wasted on paper thin caricatures (all but bill burr and mark boone)
  • a somewhat predictable plot
-just as in the case of the previous 2 episodes; this episode doesn't really serve to push the narrative forward
  • hearing Richard ayoade voice coming from zero can be somewhat jarring

So far this has proven to be very much a series of 2 halves. After a fantastic start we appear to have hit something of a narrative wall. It's starting to feel that the producers and writers don't really know where the series is going and the recent episodes seem to be unfocused and ambling. With only 2 episodes left; I can only hope that it can get back on track and really finish on a high. It is the way

Cowboy Bebop but in the Star Wars Universe
derekalish15 December 2019
The title of my review says it all. It appears this show will mainly be bouncing from place to place, following the life of a bounty hunter. The guest appearances in this episode were awesome, especially Bill Burr. I am fine with the formulaic design for the show; this was an entertaining episode in the same tone as older Star Wars stories.

Excellent episode in the saga of the Mandalorian
heythisisrishabh13 December 2019
Another day another job for Mando but this time we learn more about him and his past. Plus keep a keen eye for a fun cameo. The episode doesnt progress the bigger story arc much but it's an another character episode. We learn more about Mando's past, see his bond grown stronger with his 'pet' and see more badass mando in action. Overall another great entry in the saga of the Mandalorian. -1 star for not progressing bigger story arc despite 6 episode and 75% of the season 1 in the box.

Next level
absolutelylucid13 December 2019
There has been some level of mixed reaction regarding episodes 4 and 5 for being 'side missions'. I suppose this one is as well, but it doesn't matter. This episode is completely superior on every level. The writing, the directing, the music. It doesn't much matter if it's Star Wars or not. It's just great.

Adventure of the week
noawareness14 December 2019
I'm probably going to have to accept that this show isn't going to be as deep and story driven as the first few episodes led me to believe. If this is just going to be an "adventure of the week" style show with an overarching plot, like star trek, I hope the standard can be as high as this episode (more often than not), rather than the terrible episode 4 and mediocre episode 5.

Ol' Billy "Red Cheeks" Burr does it again
bryansc13 December 2019
Another masterclass from the legendary Bill Burr. After elevating Breaking Bad to astronomical heights, he shows up again in The Mandalorian as Mayfield delivering an acting tour de force not seen since Al Pacino's Michael Corleone. Which begs the question, why hasn't Disney greenlit a Bill Burr / Mayfield Star Wars spinoff series yet?

One of my episodes in the whole season
matinpourtorab13 December 2019
This may have been a been a filler episode, but it was a really really good one; however, something tells me they will serve greater episodes in the future episodes, probably next season. Overall, it was really well-made episode, and I was on the edge of my seat over the whole episode.

Middle of the road again
kiwired513 December 2019
This episode has a better pace than previous ones but is let down by a basic, episodic plot, poor acting from several of the co-stars and worse dialogue.

Suicide squad + spaceballs = lame episode
borninthewrongcentury2 January 2020
This episode is ridiculous. It is literally a play on suicide squad and then had a character that was obviously a play off of spaceballs.

When you have a limited series like this with only a handful of episodes you want them to all be high quality and purposeful. To really dig deep with the characters and plot development. If you have 20 episodes and just need to spit out episodes like full house then I expect crap like this. Otherwise this was really wasted time and money on this episode

the worst
erisaaka14 December 2019
The acting talent was horrendous. The knife girl was so cringe. The twist at the end and mando fighting was the only thing that gave this one some stars. Hoping these actors never return to the show.

Director Rick Famuyiwa nailed it again!
Alex18613 December 2019
In my opinion this episode puts the previous two episodes to shame. I was actually really hyped for Dave Filoni to direct episode 5, however, too many small elements really hurt that episode. The concept was alright, however some of the generic background music, overuse of similar camera angles, and especially the acting made me worried about the episodes to come. That said, this episode redeemed my expectations and I hope to see Rick Famuyiwa direct more episodes as he also did great with episode 2.

The action choreography is clear and epic! This episode definitely nails that. The actors delivered great performances. I was on the edge of my seat!

The only downside is that I'm a little bit concerned about where the story is heading. I would've loved to have more of a general outline of storytelling between each episode. So far all the episodes after episode 3 feel quite disconnected with a story line, so I do hope that this series will get back on track with the next episode as there are only 2 or 3 episodes remaining in this season.

And as far as I can tell from everyone watching this: PLEASE MAKE THE EPISODES LONGER, 45-60 minutes would be PERFECT!!!

This time our protagonist is in nead of independent help and falls foul with some of the I.T. crowd. Enter doing bad stuff for the right reason and outside help when they least expect it

Better,much better.
NeilisDead13 December 2019
So, we still get hammy acting but with a more entertaining script. When they first come under fire I thought it was cheesy as, the faces and jeopardy faced was a little comical. However some great action take-dows from Mando and a tense scene with the guard improved things.

As we approach the end and things heat up and everything improves...

Oh and baby Yoda...

A big mprovement, great.

This episode is so well written and so well directed, making it one of the best episodes of the mandalorian so far. This episode easily puts episode 4 and 5 to shame

It's always a pleasure to see good Star Wars
sevskirita13 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
After a somewhat lackluster last episode, The Mandalorian comes back and delivers another amazing Star Wars heist. The music is incredible, and the characters are interesting. The episode delivers on great action, and perfectly shows why Mandalorians are hailed as some of the best fighters in the galaxy. I was thoroughly immersed for the most part, except with the celebrity cameos at the end and the a little bit hammy performance for the female Twi-Lek. Aside from that, the episode couldnt be more perfect. We even get a little more lead up to the sequel factions. This takes the cake as nearly (if not) my favorite episode.

Perfectly Fine, Frustratingly Repetitive
ThomasDrufke13 December 2019
At this point, it does feel like the show is taking a much different approach than most of us thought. Instead of 8 episodes feeling like one long movie, The Mandalorian has pretty much been 6 different stories simply involving the same characters. Other than the fact that Mando & The Child are in every episode (and always in danger) the episodes have felt very episodic and unrelated to each other. It's almost like they had many ideas involving a Samurai/Western style and chose to write 8 different stories (6 so far). The show is perfectly fine, but I think we expect something different from a streaming show these days, when the idea of a show being "episodic" is almost completely non-exisistent.

And really, what can I say that is all that different from the last few weeks? Mando has a job, Baby Yoda/The Child is in danger, and at the end of the job they both fly off together. Is this not the same exact ending we've had 4-5 times now? It's unfortunate that repeating the same story beats is overshadowing these episodes for me because the action, choreography, cinematography, and the rest of the big filmmaking words are fantastic this week. I just wish at this point the show felt more like we were entering into the 3rd act of a movie, rather than at the same point we were at the end of the first episode.

Very good episode, but the third episode that takes the story nowhere.
cvt-6597113 December 2019
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode, and thought it was very entertaining. My only problem with this episode is, that it wais the third episode in a row, that didn't move the story forward at all.

Disappointing is sadly an understatement
aarongnr13 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I've seen people say "The last twist saved it". But if you think about it, that twist was what made the least sense in this episode. And it makes the Mandalorian look like a total idiot. He lets those X-Wings blow up this entire station with probably hundrets of people on it that he never met before? All that just to get some money and kill that blue dude (and the other guy), whom he could've already killed at the prison? Come on... Not to mention how Mando got the 3 into the cell with the limited time that was left.

The characters are ridiculous. They behave as if they jumped straight out of an anime. So massively overdrawn and just goofy. This episode, just like the last 2, has 0 consequences for our hero. (Yeah, maybe those 3 escape some day and hunt him, but for now it seems as if that story is finished)

Some good actions scenes and CGI, yes. But what else is there beyond that? This is just another "filler" episode. There seems to be no overarching story. Maybe someday in season 5 the storylines will lead to something, but at this point I honestly doubt it.

I could ignore that episode 2 was basically a filler (except for some character development) because it was episode 2. Now that we're at episode 6, 4 out of the 6 episodes felt like filler episodes, and that honestly unacceptable.

Really, really disappointed in how this show turned out to be. And who knows, last 2 episodes might be amazing, but a good show can't just have less than half good episodes.

I've enjoyed the rest of the series well enough so far, but this episode was pretty weak. Plot holes, idiot characters...

Rick Famuyiwa is the stand out director of this series! Amazing!
MrTGav13 December 2019
Rick Famuyiwa has an incredibly individualistic directing style with so much attitude, swagger and a wicked sense of humour. He is the stand out director of this series so far. His work on episode two was joyous, sharp witted and full of energy. Episode 6 The Prisoner was a jam packed thrill ride that did not let up for one moment. So many great scenes that kept the tempo high and the audience guessing at all times. This was a very well structured heist story, it had everything from beginning to end. Mando was so unbelievably cool in this one. I was starting to fear he'd lost his edge. Turns out that was scripted all along to keep us off base. Loved every minute of it! Great stuff!
