All three of the X-Wing pilots wear a yellow Rebel Alliance Starbird sigil on their helmets, originally the sign of the Tierfon Yellow Aces. However, these versions have been updated to include a ring of tiny stars around them, indicating they serve the New Republic.
Three of the show's directors feature as the X-wing pilots in this chapter. Rick Famuyiwa (episode 2 and 6), Deborah Chow (episode 3 and 7) and Dave Filoni (episodes 1 and 5) between them directed six of the eight chapters of the first season.
This is Clancy Brown's first live-action Star Wars appearance, following his voice acting roles as Montross (a Mandalorian) in Star Wars: Bounty Hunter (2002), Savage Oppress in Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008), Ryder Azadi in Star Wars: Rebels (2014) and various minor characters in both of these animated series.
Mayfeld reveals himself to be an ex-Imperial Sharpshooter, and Mando responds by joking that the title doesn't exactly mean much, referencing the famous joke about Stormtroopers being unable to hit anything with their blasters. This means that the real-world gag is now part of the Star Wars mythology. Mayfeld goes on to explain that he wasn't actually one of the Empire's Stormtroopers, proving that even the bad guys know their infantry are useless when it comes to marksmanship.
In Connections (2020) it was revealed that the X-Wing used to film the three pilots was a full sized vehicle created for Disney World's Galaxy's Edge and was filmed before it was shipped to Orlando, Florida.
