Hong Kong and Paris-based All Rights Entertainment has picked up a mandate to handle sales duties on “Lendarys,” an animated family entertainment movie that is now in production.
The film is being produced on budget of $30 million and is set for delivery in 2023. All Rights Entertainment is launching the picture for international sales at the European Film Market (EFM), the online companion to this year’s in-person Berlin Film Festival.
“Lendarys” is set in the heart of an imaginary world, where a young and funny wizard apprentice teams up with a hairy and wacky pachyderm who has become tiny, and an outlaw with a mysterious power, on a search for the wizard’s younger brother. They are accompanied by a fantastical animal called a Lendarys. However, when they find the boy’s trail, they discover he has rallied the cause of a strange maleficent creature who is trying to take over their world.

Counting the spin-offs and Wong Kar-wai’s “The Grandmaster”, “Ip Man: Kung Fu Master” is the ninth entry in a phenomenon that has already started to be mentioned as Ipsploitation, which focuses on the story (real and fictional) of Bruce Lee’s teacher in Wing Chun. Protagonist Dennis To plays the iconic character for the third time, after “Ip Man: The Legend is Born” and “Kung Fu League” although he also had bit parts in the first two entries of the series, which starred Donnie Yen. Li Liming directs a movie in the series for the first time, although the next entry titled “Crisis Time” is also his.
Magnet Releasing will release IP Man: Kung Fu Master in theaters and on demand December 11th, 2020
In a rare occasion for the franchise, the story deals with the days of Ip Man as a police officer in Fosshan, something that happened before and after the Sino-Japanese war.

"Some people use it to fight and kill. Some people use it for self-improvement. And as for me, I use it for justice." Magnolia Pictures has debuted an official US trailer for yet another Ip Man movie, this one titled Ip Man: Kung Fu Master. This martial arts extravaganza stars Donnie To as the Ip Man, Bruce Lee's legendary kung fu tutor, his third time playing this role (including The Legend Is Born: Ip Man in 2010 and Kung Fu League in 2018). This film isn't connected to the Donnie Yen series of Ip Man films, most recently with Ip Man 4: The Finale just last year. Set before the Communist Revolution in 1949, during his time as a police captain in Foshan, Ip Man is targeted by a vengeful gangster just as the Japanese army invades the region. The film's cast also features Michael Wong, Wanliruo Xin, and Dongfeng Yue. All the fights look badass,...

“Ip Man: Kung Fu Master,” the latest in a long line of Ip Man movies from Hong Kong and mainland China, has found its way to the virtual Cannes Market, where it is being represented by Hong Kong- and Paris-based All Rights Entertainment.
Directed by Li Liming and produced by Kai Pictures, it stars Dennis To in his third go at the role of Ip Man, the martial artist who famously tutored Bruce Lee, and whose life has spawned two competing biopic franchises.
To previously portrayed the kung fu ace in Herman Yau’s “Ip Man: The Legend Is Born,” and Jeff Lau’s “Kung Fu League.” Ip’s oldest son, Ip Chun, described To’s performances as the most accurate portrayal of his father. “Kung Fu Master” also stars Hong Kong star Michael Wong Mun Tak.

The idea of the team-up film, bringing together figures or characters from wildly varying sources or storylines has long been a cinematic staple. While predominantly a Horror feature dating back to the numerous team-ups of Universal Studios characters ranging from The Wolf-Man, Frankenstein, Dracula, Abbott & Costello and more, lately the Action movie has started to capitalize on that with the tongue-in-cheek ‘Expendables’ films that reunited 80s stars in a new adventure. That formula is now tried with the kung-fu comedy genre as WellGo USA presents this Jeffery Lau-directed feature bringing together various martial arts heroes from Chinese folklore throughout the ages on Blu-Ray, DVD and digital on September 17.

If there's one thing I know about Hong Kong action comedies, it's that I know nothing about Hong Kong action comedies. Case in point: Kung Fu League. Directed by Jeffrey Lau, known for The Eagle Shooting Heroes, the Chinese Odyssey films, and Treasure Hunt, the new film is described as an action-adventure / comedy. Judging by its first trailer, it more than lives up to its billing. Here's the official synopsis: "When his manager prevents Fei Ying Xiong from getting the girl he loves, he summons the help from four legendary Kung Fu masters to learn the highest level of martial arts from the best in history and to defeat his enemies who stand in the way of the things he wants most." Vincent Zhao,...

Can this Kung Fu League help save the day? Chinese distributor United Entertainment Partners released this Hong Kong action comedy last fall. This is not a new trailer, but we never featured it whenever it first appeared last year. So why not now...! (Thanks to a tip from Rob.) It looks crazy fun, and super cheesy, and perhaps some renewed interest in this will help it get an international release. Kung Fu League is a big-hearted comedy about a comic book artist nerd who "summons four legendary Kung Fu masters to learn the highest level of martial arts" so he can win the heart of a girl at his office. It's the latest film from Kung Fu Hustle director Jeffrey Lau, and already opened in theaters in China last year. Starring Ashin as Fei Ying Xiong, Kwok-Kwan Chan, Jay Chou, Madina Memet, Andy On, Yu-Hang To, and Vincent Zhao. The...
