Other victims of poisoning emerge. A local grocery store owner, a worker in a factory. A woman who went along with her son, knocking on doors and buying anything valuable cheaply as she would offer immediate cash.
The woman Dolly Armstrong has been hoarding cash over the years. Her son Roy has been eyeing it up and he has plans of his own.
Taggart needs to find out what links the victims and who had the motive for the killings. It could just be that the deaths by poisoning are random. There are several red herrings as the viewer is led to some deliberate blind allies.
There is a tense finale as a baby could be at risk of poisoning. The ending is well put together but that car on the rampage was silly. Just so a humorous scene could be inserted about McVitie's new car getting damaged.
