Where is Rose?
austerebenevolence27 January 2020
Seriously, Rose is like 10 or 12 when all of this is happening with Jericho and she wasn't in a single scene, not even in the background. Not at the house when mom and dad were still together, not at the apartment after they had split up, not even in flashback scenes in the previous episodes...Slade never even mentions her. So why is she so hell bent on avenging the brother that, as far as I've seen, she's never even known?

Deathstroke shouldn't be able to take Donna Troy
NinjaXCV28 January 2020
I love the Titans series and this was one of the few action packed episodes. Lots of great fight scenes. My only complaint is that Robin put up a better fight than Donna Troy. That's not right. She's an amazon, she's trained for battle and she's on par with Wonder Woman, who has went toe-to-toe with Superman. There's no way Deathstroke could overpower her like he did. I would accept that he could out-think her, but power-wise Donna Troy is physically one of the strongest characters on the show. I realize I'm being a bit nit picky, but this one of the best true-to-comics series out there. Don't water it down.

Best episode of the season.
EddyTheMartian00726 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
If you've read my reviews you know I have mixed feelings about this show. For once I don't really have much to say about this episode of Titans. Almost everything was actually good this episode. Last episode, despite its several flaws, did improve a lot in its editing, which has been one of my biggest recurring problems with this show. The trend seems to be continuing because the editing is better than usual, but this episode still has its problems. The color grading is especially awful this episode. Scenes that should look bright and colorful look dull, which is a shame because there are some nice shots here and there. The overall camera work and cinematography though was very good. Especially during the fight scenes, which where some of the best in the series. However they all felt a little too short, and something held them back. The first action scene we get shows Slade escaping the facility where they essentially created him. This was a short action scene all done in one shot, which I always appreciate. The problem with this scene is the incredibly bad blood effects, and gun play. The blood spatter effects don't blend in with the background because of the terrible color grading, so it ends up looking incredibly fake. Also the usage of guns felt so odd, like Slade wasn't even aiming well, but the shots hit anyways. The Donna V Slade scene was really good. I don't really have anything negative to say about it except how short the fight was, but that isn't a fair criticism. Finally we have the church fight scene with Robin and Deathstroke. I found this fight to be really good except for moments in the fight that logically make no sense. Like Slade and Robin literally stop a few times just to say some lines, and the moves they make are unrealistic, in a way where they could take each other out, but they don't take the moves because plot basically. Also it literally makes no sense that Slade wouldn't kill Dick at the end. That might seem a bit overly critical, but I have to give credit where credit is due. It was a very good fight scene and one of the best in the series. Moving on to the storyline of this episode. I just really enjoyed what they did during this episode. Deathstroke's origin was brief and well handled in my opinion. We didn't really need to focus on that too much, it would be better to focus on his relationship with Jericho and we do. I have nothing negative to say when it comes to Jericho. I found him to be well performed, and to be very likable. There's a lot you could relate to with this character, and it's a little sad we probably won't see much of him later on. I really thought the scenes between him and Slade were fantastic. I also thought his scene with the Titans were good too. The Titan's conflict on wether or not they should tell Jericho the truth was well handled. I just really enjoyed the storyline in this episode, and I thought it was very well done. There isn't much more to say about this episode because while there wasn't a lot of bad, but there wasn't anything particularly amazing either. If I had to mention any other problem with this episode, it has to be the ending. I felt like Jericho's death was good, but the way they set it up was incredibly obvious, and it it transitioned too quickly to the next scene (and with some bad editing). The final scene too just felt unnecessary. We already know what happens to the team, showing it so soon after undermines Jericho's death. I think the episode either should've had more time to deal with those scenes, or just cut the last scene altogether and end it with Jericho's end. I just felt like the ending as a whole felt off. Overall though I'm glad to say this was a great episode of Titans, definitely one of the best episodes. Jericho and Deathstroke were seriously great. In fact all the actors were excellent this episode. There were also some really good fight scenes. If Titans continues with episodes of this level maybe there's hope for this series after all.

10/10 episode
aceofaccounts25 October 2019
Titans has had its flaws but this is one of the best episodes of thus far and it shows you the potential that the series has. It reveals the backstory behind what happened with the original Titans group and their relationship with Slade. This episode also reveals just how formidable of an opponent Deathstroke is.

A fantastic episode!
chubbysupreme25 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Imo : i'm not much of a fan of 2x4 'aqualad'. The character was not resolve with titans, and only with donna. And even in a fight scene, the use of its character is so awkward(op). 20 minutes of drag relationships but died a hero. But wasted potential and its suit. (7/10). Instead of what we got, i would have prefer 'how he met the titans' episode.

And for this episode : jericho's casting and its origins seems to work so well. Everytime he appears on a screen, i was like 'protect him on all costs" but too bad we all know he's going to die.

We got things to wanted in ONE episode -Robin vs Deathstroke (soon to be Nightwing vs Deathstroke)

-Actions

-A NEEDED flashback episode.

-deathstroke's origin

DC world is one of the greatest worlds both in tv and cinematography ever.! How could they manage in only 3 episodes to get 3 new characters and make all the watchers love them and then in the same 3 episodes they all die or something bad happens to them ! This is great.

BEST EPISODE OF THE SERIES SO FAR
markq-7565426 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was awesome, it was another full flashback episode. So we see the original Titans together along with Jericho. Firstly I gotta say I love the old titans chemistry and Jericho is such an enjoyable character. He is happy he has friends and adds a sort of humor and color to the show.

This episode gave great focus on Jericho and his messed up relationship with his father. We also get a lot of Deathstroke this episode. We see him get his powers as well as working for H.I.V.E. We see how much Slade truly loves his family, he is sorry for missing Jericho's birthday that he gives him something of his that he always has in him. He then leaves Jericho after Jericho nearly died. Slade feels guilty, but even though he left he still monitors Jericho to see if he's safe.

Now as for the titans we see how far they'll go to get back at Deathstroke. Dawn and Hank want to stop playing Jericho while Dick and Donna wanna keep on going on with it. With that Dick got great character development, going at all costs to get Deathstroke.

Now fir the firsts, they were amazing, Donna vs Deathstroke was awesome. Donna using her Lasso and Slade uses her own lasso against her. And Slade is a master of knife fighting. He cut Donna over five times. Nor for Dick vs Deathstroke was the best fight of the series. I really got teen titans vibe from it. The bow staff fight. Then Deathstroke's bow staff also being a gun was so cool and comic bookie.

Then Dick laying on the floor defenseless about to be killed. Jericho steps in the way to save Dick. Then we see the team disband after the death of Jericho. They feel guilty and feel Dick went too far.

So to sum up my review of the episode it was absolutely fantastic, the acting action and story. 10/10

Larrypiraeus31 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Am i the only one that doesn't like Dick-Robin? I am so tired always watching him with that cool and ''responsible'' style that he has and his lonely actions all the time..

Why do you want a group when you are always go lonely in a tough situation??

He said 100 times he killed deathstroke's son?is that a killing?really??

The killing of Jericho is a joke..

One of my personal favorite Titans episodes
Holt34427 October 2019
Another flashback episode which follows the time line where the episode Aqualad ended. We also get to see how Slade became Deathstroke which was nice to see. We get even more answers, I would say all of them. The episode has some great drama and fight choreography, the ones that followed Slade Wilson was so damn nice and entertaining to watch. The fight sequence at the end had to be one if not the best of the series, I hope they beat it in the final showdown between the Titans and Deathstroke as that was incredible, as it showed all kinds of different fight moves and weapons used in a fight simply amazing. Cinematography was excellent and so was the directing, Toa Fraser was great and made a visually stunning episode.

Jericho is actually a really interesting character, his powers isn't that original but I feel like the visual effect team and writers have made them unique. One of the episode's highlights are to me the screen time Esai Morales got in this episode it shows his acting capabilities both in giving an incredible performance and to perform an excellent fight choreography. Brenton Thwaites also gave a satisfying performance as Grayson, I really do like him as Dick Grayson. The character development have been great and I really don't see it being unrealistic that he acted like he did in season one and these flashback episodes which tells us how Titans disbanded and why Dick grew darker and darker, it's really good writing.

How can you ignore this DC writing?
kpatt200627 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I stopped watching the CW DC shows years ago. There's only so many bad writing moments that you can ignore. Titans was suppose to be better. This showed proved in one moment that it was still the same old DC. It's not quite as low as CW shows, but it isn't far away.

Deathstroke could hear Robin's heart he said, just being in the same building, but he didn't know his son was standing right behind him? Then afterwards, I guess Deathstroke had no more kills allowed for him that day, so he just left Robin there, all alive and everything.

Great episode but too much plot convinience
bentenison9728 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is one of the best episodes so far (probably the second best). The acting, the overall story was great but the writing kinda set it off a little. I mean there's too much plot convinience here, first Jericho became such good friends with the Titans that on the first day he met 3 total strangers (he met Dick before), he basically told them everything there is to know about his messed up family? He even gave the unnecessary little details such as Deathstroke's handler's name, Wintergreen. Second, Deathstroke killing Jericho looks so forced here. Jericho could've transferred his conciousness to Deathstroke's body and stopped him (I mean why show his powers when he can't even use them when it's needed the most?). Also, why would anyone jump in and sacrifice himself for a guy they just met like a few days/weeks ago. It was a great episode but writing like these really makes it hard to differentiate this from CW's writing.

Great episode but - spoilers below
PennyIsMine3 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This was probably the second best episode of Season 1 and Season 2, but the ending displayed more of the hyper-moralizing I've come to expect from these DC television shows. The Bruce Wayne episode handled it better than most, but, ugh, why does it feel like 25% of these episodes are wasted by burying it's entire cast in **feelings** (I'm including The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl - but not Gotham, for the most part).

At the end of this episode when Dick spilled his guts, I expected everyone (or most - Hank's never going to like Dick) to be proud of him for finding the courage to tell the truth, but instead they walked out on their friend and shut the tower down.

What a bunch of whiny little mounds of fecal matter.

Deathstroke killed Garth. He killed Donna's Themyscira contact (whoever she was), and he severely wounded Donna. Hawk and Dove were with Donna, keeping those wounds from being of the mortal variety.

What was Dick to have done? Knowing where Deathstroke will be is a once in a lifetime thing. He had to take that shot, and he was the only one to do it.

That aside, Deathstroke is supposed to be able to hear heartbeats and breaths, and with the scene exactly as it was shot, Deathstroke would have heard those things from his son, along with his much louder footsteps, and Deathstroke should have known Jericho was behind him. Period.

But apparently he was being careless. Is Deathstroke's carelessness Dick's fault too?

Of course not.

Deathstroke killed his son, and the Titans abandoned their friend and leader.

Disgusting.

A step up...
trekkergy2 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
One of the better episodes so far. Esai Morales is excellent as Deathstroke. Good dialogue and pacing... I enjoyed seeing the team wrestle with the dilemma of abusing Jericho's trust. It was strange that we didn't see Rose at all in this episode... not even mentioned by her parents. A different mother? (Though I didn't really miss her... she's a particularly annoying/whiny character, and not very well played in this series.) I also have to agree with the commenters who noted that Donna Troy was bested and nearly killed by Deathstroke WAY too easily. Wonder Girl is a real powerhouse... she could literally pick up Slade with one hand and throw him through a wall. She's also MUCH faster. There's no way Wilson could defeat her and wound her so severely. I'd like to know why the writers are making this version of Deathstroke so ridiculously overpowered. The experimental serum he was given makes him metahuman ... not superhuman like Wonder Girl.

One of the best
MamadNobari9728 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was overall very good, DS is still a badass and the Jericho storyline was good too. But unfortunately it still has those moments when you'd roll your eyes and say "seriously guys?". As another review said; the scene with Deathstroke killing his son was really dumb, not only he said he could hear Robin breathe and didn't know his son was behind him, but also he didn't need to turn away from Robin to take his sword out! So I don't know what's up with these forced scene that push the plot further, certainly they could've done something that made more sense but I guess this is how Jericho died? OR DID HE!?

So again overall was a great episode apart from that scene, i don't have a problem with that, just that they could do something better.

Ok episode, but why ....
les-mcgowan2 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I get that the kid couldn't speak, and therefore used sign language. But, why did everyone sign back to him? He wasn't deaf- just mute. He could hear just fine. Just seems like a huge misstep in the writing. Ok episode otherwise. I'm surprised Berlanti went back to the Deathstroke material after spending so much time with it on Arrow. And I believe Deathstroke is getting a movie appearance. Again, why?

There's no I in team...
bestford22 January 2020
Is this the robin 1 show? It's not a bad story but not seeing the whole gang and when I do they just argue and fall out, then leave... Team work obviously doesn't make this dream work. Season 1 was better. Make a series about Superboy and his dog krypto I would deffinately watch that.

Simply wonderful
lahilaastravnar17 November 2022
The connections between the characters know a new life in this wonderful episode.

The characters are so well defined, motivated by past episodes, that the actions and scenes follow a perfect concatenation.

The drama of the scenes is so high, with essential and perfectly personalized dialogues and perfect fighting choreographies for duration and intelligibility, that this episode write new metrics for superhero cinecomics.

From first two episodes of this season I didn't suppose the writers could write and lead the series to a so excellent episode.

I'm sorry for my doubt, and I hope the quality shall be so well forever.

Simply wonderful.

ultimatephoenix-659461 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
So Donna of Troy gets owned by Desthstroke in a few seconds but Robin with no powers can last a couple of minutes. She's just as powerful as Wonder Woman. I love the show don't get me wrong but at least give the characters the powers they have or not put them in the show. Super Boy has his powers Gets a 4 because despite the obvious its a good episode especially with Jericho
