Great remix

Brain Scratch was my least favorite episode of the original series, and this remix of that story makes it much more palatable. The episode overall still get a little thin, but it kept me on edge throughout.

New take on "Brain Scratch" is pretty great

What makes this adaptation so great is that the showrunners have changed things up in a way that the events of the original series have the same impact on the characters and plot, but it is still fresh for those who have seen the anime a bunch of times. All the characters have been updated in clever ways. Im sure, regardless of some of the negative reaction, that this show will be able to rope in a lot of people who are unfamiliar with the original series. There is no other anime adaptation that is this true to the spirit of the original, while maintaining many suprises along the way.

Love interest Faye was pointless.

Warning: Spoilers
Honestly I'm just posting this because it's based on an existing show with plenty of material to fill gaps in the modern story. That being said randomly filling a love scene/interest for a character that never had one to begin with was a pointless attempt at creating a story that already exists. One character has a love interest and that's the main focus, adding one for no reason ruins this episode for me.

'Binary' is such a loaded word these days.

I imagine quite a lot of people have been disappointed with the pointless inclusion of Faye's love interest, and I have to say, I agree with them.

It isn't the fact that it was a lesbian love interest, but the fact that it felt forced, contrived, a pointless box-ticking exercise- hell, even both actresses looked uncomfortable and there CERTAINLY wasn't any chemistry between them.

I have absolutely no problem with LGBTQ characters in films and TV shows- one of my favourite characters in this adaptation is Gren, the Maitre De at Ana's, who is nothing like the original character, but he has some killer lines, steals every scene he's in, and reminds me a lot of a young Marc Almond. The thing is, his character feels organic, natural, not someone who's a shoe-in to make sure everyone's represented, whereas Faye's 'girlfriend' (who disappeared and hasn't been seen since) felt exactly that.

Credit your audience with at least a modicum of intelligence, or trust me, you WILL lose them.

A series low of 4/10.

Skin Filter

Interesting to see women still have to have their skin filtered/smoothed/photoshopped/CGI'd. What a joke.

Beyond that, the hookup aspect of this episode was a snooze-fest.

Ooooo look look look.

Was wondering how long it would be until the show had to shout and point at the LBGTQ community couple. And yes for no reason at all apart from pointing out the fact they have it in the show. And let's face it not point it out they shouted it out.

I've said it many times. When will people realise that this is now accepted. So include don't include but just make it natural to the story ffs.

This episode: People sitting on beds talking to each other about their feelings.

FFS.

CB is a KINETIC story. Until now.

They manage to crash something to pretend there is action.
