- Beginning of the journey near Nosy Be: Sacha has met Massimiliano Felici, a boat captain and diving coach and they went diving in the sea. Then they go to the island of Ankazoberavina, a volcanic island where Massimiliano manages an ecologic lodge: on the beach of the island the sea turtles are laying their eggs and later the small sea turtles will go the the sea.The supper will be fresh natural oysters. Then Sacha travels to Nosy Komba and meets there Yvonne Jacqueline Abdallah who is guide and also healer: they go the forest, see lemurs and Yvonne shows Sacha some medicinal herbs. When they return to the village Yvonne prepares with margose (bitter gourd o bitter melon) a beverage for the hangover and stomach aches.Later Sacha takes a boat to the main land and goes to Bemaneviky: she meets there Eline Razafisoa, the mayor of the town; they cross the market (zebu meat) and go to the secondary school: today there is a special celebration for the students who begin their "terminale" (baccalaureate year): national anthem, speeches, music and zebu meat and rice for all.Later Sacha meets Nathanaël Oudiette, a tour operator: they make a bike tour , they see a lot of chameleons on the trees and fields of ylang-ylang : they visit Mr. Benjamin Djaovary, a farmer who grows vanilla, cocoa trees, pepper plants and jackfruit trees organically (so he can get better prices). Then Sacha travels to the National Park of Ankarana; there she meets Cyrille Cornu, a researcher who takes care for the baobab tree of this park: there 6 species of the baobab trees in Madagascar: the most rare is Perrier's baobab (Adansonia perrieri), they found one the the forest and climb the baobab and have a nice sight on the park. Then Sacha travels to the "Montagne des Français": Tinah Rasoarimanana, manages a bungalow for tourists: she has also helped the villagers with water and electricity supply and has a reforestation program with the children of the school (bananas and papayas): Tinah and Sacha will climb the mountain and visit also a cave.Next stop Diego Suarez, now called Antsiranana: Sacha takes a taxi, a Renault 4L : they see a statue of the Marshall Joffre and an old man explained that the colonel Joseph Joffre arrived at Diego Suarez in 1900 and the port was developed and also many public buildings (Joffre left Diego Suarez in 1903).Finally Sacha meets Ali Chams, a marine guide: they make a boat tour to the Emerald sea and the island of Diego where they eat grilled fishes. Besides we can see very interesting stories: the sustainable development in the island of Sakatia: where a local council (comité local de base en French) is coordinating development activities: local fishermen don't fish anymore near the seashore, local farmers have received a training and are now guides, their women are making embroidery (the famous Richelieu point) and sell their products directly to the tourists who visit the island (women empowerment). In Ambanja there are cartwrights (wheelwrights) who produce the carts that are pulled by the zebus . In another region of the north there are miners looking gemstones like the green garnets: a very hard work in 15-20 meters deep wells.Besides in several parts people are recycling metals from ship wrecks (iron ) or aluminum for making the famous Malagasy cooking pots. We see also the religious life, in the villages the people treat with a medium, they go to sacred tree , the medium receives offering and so the villages can ask for the protection of their ancestors.—zutterjp48
