Sex & Nudity

  • It is briefly implied that Seven of Nine was at some point in a relationship with the female antagonist.

Violence & Gore

  • The opening scene of this episode contains an incredibly disturbing and graphic forceful removal of a character's eyeball. The character is shown to be writhing and screaming in pain, leaving a bloody mess. He is then mercy-killed while gasping for breath. By far one of the goriest/most gruesome scenes in Trek history, only beaten by TNG's infamous 'Conspiracy'.

Profanity

  • One use of 'sh-t', said very briefly. 'Hell' is used a few times.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The character of Icheb, last seen in later episodes of Star Trek - Voyager, is killed off in the opening scene, after graphically having his eyeball torn out by an extraction device. He is then mercifully killed by Seven of Nine, his surrogate mother. A very shocking scene to fans of Voyager. What makes it more shocking is there is no build-up to the extraction, as it is the very first scene of the episode.
