"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" Assumptions (TV Episode 2019) Poster

Philip Winchester: ADA Peter Stone

Quotes

  • Naomi Zeigler : Isn't it true that this whole charade is a hoax intended to raise your political profile, to gain sympathy...

    Peter Stone : Objection!

    Judge Karyn Blake : Sustained.

Nahla Nasar : I thought I had to hide that part of my life. I was afraid...

    Naomi Zeigler : Nothing further.

Nahla Nasar : I am here at risk of losing my family's love, my career, everything. But I am not afraid anymore.

  • Nahla Nasar : I think I see where this is going. Are you suggesting that I am lying about my sexual assault?

    Olivia Benson : Absolutely not.

Peter Stone : You couldn't describe your attacker. Your rape kit was inconclusive.

Nahla Nasar : This is an outrageous accusation. I'm wondering if my headscarf has something to do with it.

Olivia Benson : Okay, let's... let's not go there, because that's just not true. Now, what would help clear this up is if you would give our techs access to your phone records.

Nahla Nasar : I will do no such thing. I thought the days of police calling rape victims liars were over. I guess I was mistaken.

  • Peter Stone : You follow Sharia law, Mr. Faraj?

    Masud Faraj : Yes.

Peter Stone : Sharia law states that homosexuality is immoral. "If any of your women are guilty of lewdness, take the evidence of four reliable witnesses from amongst them, and if they testify, confine them to houses until..." what? Mr. Faraj, I know you know the answer.

Naomi Zeigler : Objection, Your Honor.

Peter Stone : Mr. Faraj, until what? What is the answer?

Masud Faraj : "Until death do claim them." I should have killed her.

Peter Stone : Instead of just asssaulting and raping her? Why didn't you kill her?

Masud Faraj : Because she is my wife!

    Peter Stone : Nothing further.

  • Peter Stone : What Ms. Ziegler just lambasted weren't assumptions. They were hate-filled stereotypes. So what do we know? We know that Nahla Nasar is a lesbian. We know that her former husband knew it too. We know that his religion tells him that homosexuality is immoral and punishable by death. We know he was at the scene of the crime at the time the crime was committed, and we know that Ms. Nasar ID'd him as her rapist. We know that. Those are the facts. That's what we know. Now, what do we do? We look at those facts, and we assume he raped her. It's okay. That's the way our system works.

  • Dominick Carisi Jr. : How'd you get MetroBuzz to give you the whole tape? Didn't they argue First Amendment?

Peter Stone : They did, but the judge agreed with me. He said it was a staged publicity stunt and not a protected act of journalism.

  • Peter Stone : Shari'a Law recognizes any divorce initiated by woman or man. The Qur'anic verse is not lewdness, but adultery and there must be 4 WITNESSES to the act itself, not 3, 2 or 1. 4. Which is impossible. Neither are punishable by death. The only death penalty in the Qur'an is for treason. The punishment for treason in America, is death.
