Tyler Sowders recorded all of his lines while serving a 19-month prison sentence for armed robbery. Because of strict federal prison phone call regulations that are both monitored and can only last 10 minutes per day, much of Sowders's written dialog had to be censored. A few of his recorded lines were recycled from Winter / Summer Sun, an unfinished project in which he had a similar role.
The script won the "Best Screenplay" award at the 2018 Montana International Film Festival.
Filming took place in over 15 different locations across Texas, Oklahoma, Montana, Wyoming, and Florida, based on where the director was living at the time of production.
The movie was shot over the course of three years and was ultimately abandoned after "about 40%" of the movie had been completed. When production went on hold due to a lack of funds, director and star Tyler Wright was weighing 220 pounds and was homeless. By the time Wright had acquired more funds, he had lost nearly 90 pounds and looked drastically different from his appearance at the beginning of production and had sold off the main car used for most of the movie, rendering the original footage useless.
