U MAD?
Nuri_B4 February 2019
The writers' side story about LGBTQ issues is spot on, as usual. I seriously don't understand why people are disgusted when TV shows like this try to send a message. Do people not know that these are REAL issues? It's not like they constantly write about such issues, this series is 9 SEASONS LONG, after all. Get a grip, guys.

However the monologues were nonsensical at best. I mean that Grover speech at the end, couldn't the writers think of a more striking story? It's like they wrote it hastily and never had the time to read it a second time. I mean these guys are getting PAID for THIS stuff.

Much better
tonycarr9 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
No ridiculous plots involving everyone suddenly tearing around the world, no silly bickering, just a fairly good story well told. The sub plot involving parents trying to foist their belief in whatever sky-fairy they picked on their children was cliched and has been done better elsewhere but still, an improvement on previous episodes

Poorly written
Qiaosheng3 February 2019
For good reason, I thought the first episode of Season 8 could not possibly have its title of "Worst in the Series" taken away. But, somehow, they managed to find a way. Congratulations, Five-O writers. You did the impossible. New worst episode. 🤙🏽

A moving show that aired on the first day of black history month
DocIndy2 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was all about inclusion. From the parents who cannot accept their lesbian daughter and want to send her out of state to undergo conversion therapy to the former prisoner who is planning to blow up a van while working with a group that plans similar attacks in other cities because they are threatened that American is no longer a white dominant country to the character Grover talking about being beat up as a teen in Illinois in 1988 for being black. As a 60 year old straight and married white man from Indiana I think this show was very good.

Important Messages

Five-0 could continue with its army man drama or crime fighting but instead it chose to tackle two important issues. Sure it's a bit heavy-handed but so is every other episode.

Hawaii 5.0 lecturing on racism when (2) of the Asian cast members (primary characters) left the show because they were getting paid less than the white actors.

One sided as always
ghcheese2 February 2019
I agree taking that girl to Idaho is bad and wrong. But for the lawyer and this guy to give a minor money to help run away is also wrong. And why is it always the Alt Right. Hate them. But how about showing us the Antifa. Or the Muslim Brotherhood. or any of the many racist groups out there. They all suck. How about we hate them all for the pieces of scum they are.

Sloppy episode appears mainly done to preach. The team is jumping to conclusions and things are disjointed.

The series worst episode to date
raiden-512203 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Spoilers ahead: This episode was absolutely horrible, filled with kind of preachy stereotypes and prejudice H5O usually avoids but is so very common on TV. The episode starts with a sub-plot of a troubled teen trying to escape her parents. The parents are religious and disagree with her life style so naturally they are portrayed as being ignorant hate filled bigots. This sub-plot has almost nothing to do with the rest of the story and seems put there by the writers primarily to virtue signal. The main story, the investigating of a plot by white supremacists (WS) to attempt a Timothy McVeigh style bombing, is better written. However, as with the sub-plot is so pretentious to be virtually unwatchable. There is a scene near the end were McGarrett and Grover beat the WS leader while the guards search his room for a burner phone. As is common with H5O the message of when it's ok to beat/torture suspects seems completely arbitrary. Just a season or two ago an entire episode was dedicated to the message that torturing a jihadist is wrong. McGarrett basically gets the intel he needs by hugging the terrorist and becoming his friend (after repeated failed torture attempts by other agents). It appears that beating suspects is only acceptable in H5O when they are Americans (even ones not convicted of any crime), then you can beat them all you want. Not that the WS didn't have it coming, he certainly did, as 5O had precious few minutes to locate the bombers but the message inconsistency is glaring. On a side note this story makes the common but inaccurate implication that Timothy McVeigh was a religious extremist. While he certainly was an extremist, McVeigh is quoted as saying "science is my religion". He was of course still a horrible person but please get your history strait!

Worst episode ever.
ardg65-15 February 2019
I have been watching this series from the pilot, and really like how the characters are more of a family than anything. This episode came straight out of the WaPo, NYT, or Mother Jones editorial boards. They had the white Christian parents that want to send their lesbian daughter to conversion therapy. They have the alt-white young man wanting to kill brown people. They say that neo-nazis are everywhere now and multiplying. All the divisive crap they put out and then accuse regular Americans of being divisive. I wonder why Hollywood does not make shows where they show other certain religions that actually kill gays? No, I don't wonder at all, I know why.

I'm just tired of Hollywood's anti-Christian bias. This was one of my go to series to watch. No more. They've lost me.

Love the series but this episode is a straight-up disappointment. It's abundantly clear they brought in the D-team writers for this one and gave everyone else the week off.

OMG What a Steaming Pile

This episode sucked! It should be retired to a dumpster, removed from future DVD sets, and never aired on tv again. I'm a long time viewer of the show and this is by far the worst episode.

Could not finish this one
Lily_Magnum11 February 2019
This show has had some terrible episodes in the past, but this is the first episode of H50 I ever turned off before it was over. I even watched all of the goofy Robocop episode and the insipid elephant one. So it's not like I have high standards for this show, but I can't stand screechy preachy storylines and there's been a string of episodes where the writers seem dead set on turning Steve into an unlikeable jerk. McGarrett is supposed to be the good guy, remember??

Disappointing episode of a great show
bherrin2420 February 2019
This episode was not fun to watch. This has been one of the best shows on TV for 9 seasons, so to go preachy and virtue signal once, I can let it slide. The show succeeds because it is consistently fun with good action, and they need to remember that. Getting political will turn the fan base off.

Parents still responsible for their children
sshryack6 April 2019
I didn't like the preachy lbgt bias, but I really didn't like how the police get to dictate to parents how to raise their own children! Do we really want an impersonal government to telling parents how to raise kids if it doesn't line up with left sided ideals? I think not!

Explanation of Christians
seaustin6 February 2019
It is sad that some Christians portray the love of Christ incorrectly, but not all Christians are like that. Yes, we love the people no matter what life style they choose, and what's more is God loves them. God tells us to come to Him as we are, not because He doesn't care about the sin we are in, but because He loves us so much that He provided the way for us to be made whole and clean, the way He intended us to be when He created us. It is only when a person decides to love themselves more than they love God and reject God to live the way they want that, ultimately, God will have to reject them when they die without accepting His plan of salvation that is found in Jesus. God doesn't want anyone to perish. But it is not His choice. It is every individual's choice to choose life or death. It doesn't matter what you have done in the past. Choose life. God's grace is great enough to forgive anything you have done, and you don't have to try to earn His grace. You can't earn it. It is a free gift. Just call on the name of Jesus and you WILL be saved.

Not the best episode, but not as bad as some are making it out to be
wookietower5 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I'll admit, the conversion therapy story at the beginning of the episode bothered me a little bit but I didn't take it as the show attacking Christians. I thought the angle of how they discovered the terrorist was interesting too because of how they linked it back to the guy in prison but the way the ending played out seemed like it all wrapped up too quick. they supposedly discovered 5 other simultaneous terrorist plots around the country? Whatever happened to those? Also any episode without Danny is a lesser quality one IMO.

Hypocritical
C1j2H321 October 2019
No matter which side you are on when it comes to if the LGBT lifestyle is correct , we should NEVER just decide one way or the other should be forced onto someone else. This episode was Very ONE sided and basically portrayed that if you are not 100 percent ok with the LGBT lifestyle then you must be some kind of monster, So if you are for it then your great but if you are not then your evil???? Hypocritical much? We all have the right to free will and choice , we all have the right to our beliefs and opinions. What we do not have the right to do is to HATE someone who does not agree with us, or HURT someone who does not agree with us. This episode could have been way better, and still have gotten the message across about not hating. But portraying confused, upset, parents as outright wrong and borderline abusive was not the way to go. The writers tried way to hard to push a one sided agenda on this one.

Propaganda

Did you ever notice that propaganda is always the far left agenda? There is never a balance or offset that considers both the positive and negative of both sides.

An attack on Christians
selftaught-6336226 October 2021
This was the last Hawaii 5 0 episode that I watched and didn't even make it through it. It was a blatant attack on Christians and a misrepresentation of most of us.
