The Betrayal
claudio_carvalho21 December 2019
Siddiq has terrible nightmares and vision with flashbacks of Alpha killing his friends in the barn. He treats the sick patients and gives glass of water to them. Daryl asks Lydia to leave the cell while Carol brings the prisoner Whisperer inside and they interrogate him. Aaron and Gamma meet each other again at the bridge and they have a conversation. Siddiq and Dante have a discussion when the prisoner is poisoned while Daryl and Gabriel hide his body. Then there is a dreadful betrayal in Alexandria.

"Open Your Eyes" is another good episode of the "Walking Dead" dedicated to Siddiq. Carol has jeopardized the Alexandrians bringing the Whisperer to the settlement but the tragic betrayal in the end is heartbreaking. My vote is seven.

Title (Brazil): "Abra os Seus Olhos" ("Open Your Eyes")

Note: On 08 January 2024, I saw this film again.

Is so good to know that even after 10 seasons this show still can surprise us. No spoilers here, but it is a very good episode.

Good episode but..

Warning: Spoilers
Good solid episode, The actor of Siddiq was really good. The twist at the end was unexpected and brilliant but there's so many questions.. when did Dante show up? Wasn't anyone suspicious? Didn't Lydia recognise him? How was information getting back to alpha exactly? Hope they answer these questions as it's confusing

You have questions. Let me explain.
opreston-17 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, chef kisses to the acting this episode. Especially from Thora Birch (Gamma), Melissa McBride (Carol), and Avi Nash (Siddiq).

I know there's going to be people confused and asking questions so I'm here to answer them for you.

"How come Lydia didn't recognize Dante?"
  • The writers made a point in making Lydia happen to know that random Whisperer who was captured and in the very same episode reveal Dante is a Whisperer. This will be brought up later. My guess is Alpha wouldn't send a Whisperer spy that she knows Lydia would recognize.

"Why is Dante still following Alpha if he sees she lied about killing Lydia?"
  • We see in the episode that Dante "accidentally" kills the captured Whisperer before Carol tries to show him that Lydia is still alive. And mind you, Dante interacted with Lydia in episode 4. It seems as though Dante is as loyal to Alpha as Beta, in the sense that Dante is willing to keep the fact that Alpha lied about Lydia a secret.

"Is Siddiq really dead? Why did Dante kill him?"
  • Yes. Siddiq's body went limp as his eyes were still open. He's dead. When Dante did a mouth click, like a nervous tick, Siddiq remembered the Whisperer that was forcing him to watch Enid be beheaded, who also did that same mouth click. Dante realized Siddiq's realization, and chocked him to death, although he didn't want to since it seems he grew a genuine bond with Siddiq.

"Why didn't Aaron warn Alexandria about Gamma poisoning the creek?"
  • We find out this episode that Alexandria has a filtration system; if the water isn't drinkable, they label it as such. Therefore Aaron didn't feel the need to go warn his people because they should have been safe. However, Dante bent the label to where it seemed like the water was safe to drink from, which is what Siddiq found out. Also, it seems as though Aaron sees a genuine person in Gamma and is trying to recruit her, much like his character has been doing since he was introduced. He's a good judge of character, and if he warned Alexandria about her, he would lose the chance to recruit her.

"Where did Dante even come from?"
  • There was a timeskip between Season 9's Finale and Season 10's Premiere which debuted Dante's character. We are to assume Dante joined Alexandria sometime during that timeskip. And of course, with him being something as useful as a medic, they took him in.

"Why did Lydia return to the Whisperers?"
  • She didn't. After being fed up with how everyone was treating her at Alexandria, Carol using her was Lydia's breaking point, because she thought she could trust Carol. So Lydia decided to choose her "own side" which implies she going off on her own; away from The Whisperers and the communities. She crossed the border because Lydia knew Carol wouldn't be able to follow her.

I knew it

Warning: Spoilers
So just like last weeks episode, I've been enjoying Season 10 just as much as 9 but from the promo I felt this could be boring filler and yet again I was very wrong.

The smallest storyline of the episode was between Aaron and Gamma who keep meeting up with each other where they talk plans about both communities, get to know intel. Alpha eventually discovers what Gamma has been doing so she gets punished.

Carol and Daryl interrogate the whisperer they took hostage but get no information, Carol tries to display Lydia to him as he and the others think Alpha killed her however he is poisoned by a herb. Gamma discovers of her existence instead and Lydia crosses the border, but why?

Finally the big thing from tonight's episode, Siddiq still dealing with the pike deaths. His acting in tonight's episode in my opinion deserves an Emmy. The sickness bug is still getting out of hand, it kills one of the elderly residents. Siddiq eventually discovers it's the water and for a different reason other than the contaminated creek so we will let Aaron off on this one. We see some gruesome flashbacks to when DJ and Enid lose their heads and it finally comes to a closure that this whole time...... Dante was a whisperer!

He forced Siddiq to watch the beheadings and when Siddiq figures it out Dante strangles him to death.

This episode is beautifully shot, acted and directed and deserves 10/10 stars.

One of the most intense episodes this show has ever produced
Martin_West12217 November 2019
Season 10 delivers another brilliant episode with «Open Your Eyes». Siddiq's PTSD arc is horrifying, and Avi Nash is really killing it in this role. This episode includes many interesting and dramatic moments with strong performances from Melissa McBride, Thora Birch, Cassady McClincy and Ross Marquand.

The ending scene was epic and not expected at all! The Walking Dead is back to being one of the best shows on TV at the moment. Can't wait to tune in for the midseason finale!

Everyone predicted this "suprise"
random-7077818 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is why Angela Kang is presiding over the biggest decline in TWD viewership. No I am not talking about the fake reviewers here, whose sole activity on IMDB is to give each and ever episode of Walking dead a "10 Stars!" "Best episode ever!"

I am talking about hte rank and file viewers. Since Kang took control of the show, it has lost 35% of its viewership in one and half seasons (15% of the shows history).

As far as the "big mole reveal" half a dozen reviewers each and every episode this season have said that the identity was obvious and those were removed despite not being a "spoiler" but rather a guess. you have to have an IQ below 80 to not have seen this "surprise" a mile away many many episodes ago.

Again an Amazing Episode !
Tv-Addict199117 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
4 Episodes in a row we get amaing Episodes of THe Walking Dead !

The 10. Season turns out to be truly awesome and great

Well, next week we will have the Midseason-Finale and The Walking Dead almost never dissapoints with that kind of Episodes !

The Dante-Twist.......

I knew it !

Well...... kind of

I had a lot of theories about him....

1. He is an imagination from Siddiq due to his PTSD

2. Hes an love interest , Dante is in Love with Siddiq

3. He´s an Whisperer in an Undercover Mission

well, turns out Nr. 3 was right.......I seriosly thought, while Siddiq stood near the Window that they would either Kiss or Someone else like Daryl or Caryl would enter the Room and question, with whoom Siddiq is talking ( because of the theory, that Dante isn´t Real )

Amazing Conclusion of that big Question, i liked it very much how they solved that !

The Flashbacks again were very traumatic to watch, i feel so freaking sorry for Siddiq

Ps. At The One Scene were Siddiq and Rosita were at the peer and talked about the traumatic events...there was one scene, were he mentioned Dante and she looked confused, as if she didnt knew about who he is talking .....but maybe thats just clever made from the producers to Confuse us, the fans into thinking Dante isnt real !!

AMAZING Episode, i am so freaking exited for the Midseason-Finale next week

This Season is just Awesome !

Greetings From Germany (:

All said, except...

Am I wrong or was there only one undead in this episode? At least she was a persiflage for the title. The way she was hit against the tree was kind of an ... eye opener.

Sorry for my sarcasm. I remember how dangerous and interesting the undead had been (season 1, e.g. Morgan's wife) and how the tragedy and sadness of this unlife was shown. Remember Jenner's wife?

But then, it was Frank Darabont directing...

Stereotypical bs
ASBKnight2 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A couple of things start to bother me quite a lot.

1. The whole Alpha is God and brainwashes her followers. You can't just write something and expect it to be truth. That's lazy and dumb writing. Neagan had a following because it was shown how he thinks and treats the people below him. On Alpha we see a few confusing scenes and That's it.

2. The soap opera that is Rosita and the men around her is cringe. From a badass military side kick to a confused and meh secondary character that is a filler.

3. Beta not challenging Alpha is dumb af.

4. The situation with Lydia where it would've been easy for Carol to tell her why she is taking her , instead turns into this drama of "you are like her" and goes alone... stupid.

5. Last but not least, The Dante thing. It was clear he's suspicious from the first scene. Also changing the plot so dramatically from the comics that made the show good is like the writers are saying they have a better version. In the end the proved how dumb they are and have a severe lack of imagination.

Annoyed and disappointed fan
petethefeet7321 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is a prime example of what the walking dead is about, it's a character driven show that uses every trick in the book to get us emotionally invested before ripping our insides out.

Siddiqs slow spiral into a pit of despair was well written, acted and directed both tonight and for the season to date. Rosita pulling him back from the precipice was fitting for their relationship. Getting us invested in the possibility of him finally overcoming his demons was a smart move before Dante snuffing him out being the final master stroke.

Reviewers that gripe and moan about how poor the show is, how different it was from earlier seasons and how the direction has changed are deluded. The Zombie apocalypse has never been the focal point of TWD, it's merely the vehicle the show uses to allow it to tell it's story.

Longing for seasons past shows that some people have never understood the journey so far. Thru seasons 1-10 we've had fast paced, action packed episodes, we've had character driven episodes and a mixture of both. Families reuniting, groups at war with themselves and with others, comedy and tragedy (the list of scenarios is endless).

Here's a simple solution to reviewers who are disenfranchised with what TWD is, stop watching, stop writing reviews and STOP wasting the time of fans who appreciate the craftsmanship that every contributor brings to this show.

A slow paced but extraordinary episode with strong and superb acting
Holt34418 November 2019
This week's episode of The Walking Dead was fantastic and the veteran TWD actor Michael Cudlitz returned in the director chair, delivering some stunning direction and great camera work which gave us an overall experience filled with emotion as he shoots their faces a lot which makes us see the actors acting capabilities. Alright so this episode, people might find it boring cause of the slow pace but it works as it is the most human and emotional episode in season 10 from the dialogue and the actors just acting through no dialogue at all. The plot moves along nicely, following the survivors of Alexandria and we get to see the events that follow after Carol captures The Whisperer and it's wonderful writing, mysteries and recurring character arcs unveil in a nice fashion. There were also almost no action and it wasn't needed, instead we got one of my personal favorite episodes but it will probably be disliked by some people. I loved every single moment of the episode, Angela Kang wrote a superb script for the episode.

The acting in this episode was great, my personal favorites actors of the episode has to go to Ross Marquand, Avi Nash and Thora Birch. They all did superb performances and gave real emotion to the roles. Thora Birch is one of the best new additions to the cast, she's perfect and continues to do even better.

The Best Episode of Season 10! (So Far)
theslitherking17 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Before people go leaving 1 star reviews saying all 10 Star Reviewers are bots. Let me make 2 points. 1. I am not a bot nor a worker for AMC 2. This is the only episode of S10 that I have rated a 10. Episode 7 titled "Open your eyes" easily the best of S10 so far. Even though the storyline with the Captured whisperer had no great payoff, I still enjoyed the scenes, and was shocked by his death. Next, Aaron and Gamma, those scenes were the more filler parts of the episode but it really showed us the more human sides of both characters. Lastly, get Avi Nash an award. I cannot stress enough how amazing his character and acting were in this episode. I was feeling Siddiq from the beginning to the end. From his PTSD and trauma of seeing his friends being murdered catching up to him, his talk with Rosita, his attempted suicide, and his realization of the contaminated water and who dante really is. Wow! I really Can't believe he's gone, I really was teared up in the last few minutes of the episode. Thank you Angela Kang. Thank you Michael Cudlitz. Thank you to the amazing writers. Most importantly, Thank you Avi Nash.

IT'S A 10 BUT
enes-hysein17 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is my second 10 for this season after the 10x05 "What it always is" Negan episode. I'm truly shocked and sad. Seems like Angela Kang was aware of the famous Siddiq - traitor theories because she kept putting him in that position throughout the episode. I walked in with no spoilers and I'm impressed. As far as Dante is concerned, yeah he's different from his comic counterpart but good different. I love how this episode stays true to the source material but changes it too to add that unpredictability to it. As slow as this season was you can see it building up to an amazing mid-season finale. The "BUT" in my title is there because i noticed a couple of plot holes but the episode was soo good I'm not even gonna bother. Rest in peace Siddiq one of my favs fo sure. Keep it up TWD the future is bright

Solid episode of The Walking Dead Season 10, Siddiq got killed by Dante. What a cruel event on the end of the episode.

Don't Cut Your Hair
avengerco18 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
*SPOILERS* Man, The Walking Dead season 10 has another fantastic episode. Angela Kang has truly been doing some amazing work these past 2 seasons. And The Walking Dead's very own Abraham, Michael Cudlitz has returned to direct another episode. 'Open Your Eyes' dives even deeper into Siddiq's PTSD from being the lone survivor of decapitation done by the Whisperers. I think they've really been doing a great job with portraying the aftermath. Watching Siddiq having nightmares, outbursts, losing sleep & now he has plunged into the pond in the middle of Alexandria, has truly been intense. It was nice seeing Gabriel & Rosita comforting him. I was a little upset with how Rosita has been acting with Siddiq considering she's now with Gabriel. Now let's get to the main point of this. Dante plays a decent role in The Walking Dead comics in the final 50 or so issues. So when I heard that he was going to be introduced into the show I was really excited. But of course he was nothing like his comic counterpart. The more we saw of Dante the less I trusted him. He seemed to be questioning Siddiq every step of the way. As soon as he arrived people started getting sick. Then they were dying, he killed 1 of the Whisperers they had captive. And finally we found out that he was the Whisperer that held Siddiq's eyes open to force him to watch his friends get decapitated by Alpha. As soon as Siddiq came to this realization he tried to run for a weapon, but was quickly stopped by Dante. He then slowly choked Siddiq to death. I truly did not see his death coming. Well I didn't until they showed an live ad for The Talking Dead; in which they showed Siddiq's actor Avi Nash with very short hair. Especially compared to his normal hair. So I knew the actor was going to have to die by the end of the mid season finale. So that was annoying to see that. That was a very random long rant, but The Walking has truly come back from the very low place they were in during season 8. They are doing some amazing work. Every episode has vee telling some truly compelling stories. I'm a little nervous that the mid season finale will fall short when following up an episode like this. But I have faith. Continue to do an amazing job The Walking Dead.

Really confusing
yahaira-729-69470121 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The show has gotten dull, some what predictive. Aron tries to befriend the whisperer girl they just hang around the bridge sharing stories since they don't want to hurt each other, but Alpha punishes her. She finds out that Lydia is alive and freaks out. Sadiq is weak, confused and unable to see that Dante is a spy killing his people and coming on to him. Sadiqq has lost his center and seems to be the only one who suffered ptsd, no one else did from the slaughter of their friends.. Seems to like he finally finds his courage and gets attacked by Dante who had been poisoning the water. Everyone seems to be without a clue about the nature of Alpha's plan. T seems like the characters are disconnected. Carol continues her crusade and figures out a plan. Its amazing how Alpha is such a great powerful dictator. Lydia runs away from Carol. And now Sadiqq has turned.

So, you sacrificed Carl in order to kill Siddiq with the stupidest way ever and after watching almost half a season of him having flashbacks for NO reason? Also, what about Lydia? We lost to many and important people for her to join the group and you are sending her back to the whisperers? Sometimes I cannot understand what the show writers are thinking.
