In the aerial scene in which Captain Quinn is flying a T-33, he is first wearing a flight helmet and private purchase American Optical (AO) pilot's goggles. As the camera cuts back and forth, his goggles worn under his helmet as he flies have magically changed to WWII-era AN-6530 goggles, a totally different- and different looking- goggle.
In the burning tire scene, the Air Force sergeant in khaki CKC shirt who runs up to GEN Harding has both of his rank chevrons sewn very high up on both sleeves- in the regulation position for shoulder sleeve insignia- not for rank. The correct wear and position of rank insignia is centered on both sleeves between elbow and wrist.
In Season 2 Ep.1 (1953) the generals are shown in khaki Army style dress uniforms. The Air Force became an independent service in late 1947. Thus their uniforms should be blue. And way too many 4-star generals. Base commanders are colonels, not generals. 4-stars are at the Joint Chiefs of Staff level or major Command levels (i.e. Pacific Air Forces, Air mobility Command...).
Incorrectly regarded as a goof. While there are several things regarding the uniforms that are incorrect, the color of the uniform worn by the officers in the desert is not one of them. The USAF wore a uniform from 1949 until the mid 1960s that was called "silver tan." That's what the officers were wearing.
As the crew lands at Roswell AFB in 1952, the C-47 they are disembarking from- in 1952- is wearing WWII-era national insignia, which was replaced in 1947 with the new version with the red bar. Wrong (WWII era) insignia for USAF and 1952.
