Fantastic!!
22 July 2000
THE MONSTER SQUAD is one of those movies that deserved to be a box office Blockbuster but seemed to have been overlooked! I don't know if it was poor marketing at the time or what, But since it never seemed to get enough credit back in 1987, I'm gonna give it what it's due right here! This film is fabulous! The writers crafted a modern tale which allowed for the all-time classic horror villains (Dracula, Wolfman, The Mummy, Frankenstein, and Creature From The Black Lagoon) to haunt the screen together!! And they look more Horriffic than ever! Major props must go out to the creature creator and designers here. They successfully took the traditional look of these monsters and detailed them up to todays standards! The Creature From The Black Lagoon, The Mummy, and Frankenstein are especially well detailed. When Dracula ressurects these baddies to join him in a quest to take over the world, nothing can stop them...except for a group of monster-obsessed kids who posess the diary of VAN HELSING (famed Dracula hunter).

Dracula sends Frankenstein to retrieve the diary and kill the kids if necessary...Unfortunately for Dracula, FRANK ends out befriending the kids and ultimately tries to help them. Of course this does not stop Dracula and the rest of his crew from trying to retreive the book and an ancient amulet that he must destroy before midnight in order for evil to prevail...But it isn't gonna be easy with these kids doing all they can to stop them! This movie is a wild ride from start to finish. It is filled with amazing special effects (even better than a lot of the horror flicks you see these days)! The story is fun and clever; filled with wit, suspense, jokes, shocks, and great imagination! The kids with their unique personalities are funny and likeable (similar to THE GOONIES). What more could you ask for than to see such a fun and exciting story melded with awesome special effects and evil monsters!?? This flick deserves a 10 out of 10, two thumbs up, and most importantly...it deserves to be seen by everyone looking to see a fun-filled movie that they may have missed the first time around!

Lady in White (1988)
A Thrilling, Chilling, Wonderful Masterpiece!
31 January 2000
There is so much to say about this fantastic masterpiece of a movie! Everything from the absolutely Beautiful cinematography, well-crafted story, phenomenal acting, haunting score, and top-notch special effects deserves a standing ovation! This truly touching ghost story is one of the best movies ever made. After getting locked into his school's cloak-room by a couple of class bullies on Halloween night, Frankie witnesses a ghostly re-enactment of a murder that took place there years ago! Now, the ghost of the young girl who was murdered wants Frankie to help reunite her with her mother...and help reveal the identity of her killer! It's a riveting mystery full of thrills, suspense, and a haunting creepiness that will stay with you long after the movie has ended!

Writer/Director Frank LaLoggia filled this movie with heart unlike you've ever felt in a movie! His love for this story can be seen and felt in every magnificent shot. This is film-making at it's absolute best!! I recommend this masterpiece to one and all... Not many movies can touch you like LADY IN WHITE!

Spectacular!!!
15 August 1999
This well-crafted movie is such a spectacle of thrills,

excitement, action, and special-effects That I don't know

where to begin! Even if you're not a fan of this wonderful slasher series, There's bound to be something in

this lucky number 7 that will draw you in. Legend has it that the diabolical Jason Voorhees has been

chained to a boulder at the bottom of Crystal Lake for

years... Fortunately for Jason, a frustrated young woman

named Tina with telekinetic powers accidentally releases

him from his watery grave while wishing to bring back her

father who died in Crystal Lake when she was a child. After rising from the depths of Crystal Lake, Jason once

again begins slashing up all the partying young men and

woman who are vacationing by the lake... Meanwhile, Tina

tries to convince her Psychiatrist, Dr. Crews, that a "man" came out of the lake. Unfortunately Dr. Crews is

more interested in exploiting her powers than helping her

and tries to convince her that she is only seeing delusions of her father...But Tina knows something isn't

right and when she finds the corpses of many of the folks

that were partying in the cabin next door she knows that

what she saw wasn't just a "delusion"...and it isn't long

before JASON meets his best match in "Friday the 13th"

history! The climax of the film is breath-taking, Loaded

with more stunts and special-effects than you see in most

action movies as Tina uses her telekinetic powers to battle the bone-smashing Jason! The movie may start of

like a slasher flick but the last 20 minutes of the film

are so exciting and exhilarating that it feels like you're

watching a big-budget action movie with Jason in the middle! This is incredible; a must-see! Not only are the

stunts, special-effects, and pyrotechnics incredible, But

Jason himself is an awesome sight!! He looks big and menacing, rotted into his shredded up clothes with his

backbones exposed...what a look, and Kane Hodder's deeply

animated performance gives us the best Jason yet!! I have

to give everyone involved in creating this film a giant

pat on the back! Who would have thought that a part 7 could

be so fun and exciting? Don't miss this cross between a

slasher movie, an action movie, and a supernatural movie

mixed together into one hell of a ride!!

Don't Miss this Exciting, mind-blowing thrill-fest!!
24 July 1999
I'm truly surprised that a mind-blowing film like THE FRIGHTENERS didn't do better at the box office! Was everyone on Vacation the week it came out or something?

This movie has it all: Horror, suspense, incredible special-effects, laughs, excitement...you name it, it's in there somewhere! Michael J. Fox stars as Frank Bannister, a man who has the ability to see spirits of the dead (thanks to an unfortunate automobile accident). The movie gets off to a humorous start as He takes full advantage of his ability by making friends with a trio of ghosts who haunt houses for him so that he can "Exorcise" them for a handsome fee. But now the terror begins as we find out that the spirit of an executed serial-killer is killing residents of Frank's town and Frank sees visions of a number carved into the foreheads of some of the unlucky victims before they are murdered...UH-OH!!! Here is where the film begins to blend the spooky realism of a serial-killer with the haunting supernatural and the result is a non-stop ride of chills, thrills, excitement, and incredible special effects that are both frightening and mind-blowing at the same time! The ghostly effects and images are a triumph for the world of film and they are so creative, amazing, and fun that you will want to enjoy them again and again! It's a journey of excitement, suspense, and amazement as

Frank (played superbly by the likeable Michael J. Fox) and his ghostly pals try to stop the murderous terror of the evil serial-killer in this enthralling, intelligently-written, and spooky thrill-fest. If you feel like being amazed, screaming, laughing, and having a great time along the way...check out THE FRIGHTENERS! I'm still amazed!!!

A Whale of a Tale!!
14 March 1999
FREE WILLY was one of the best "Feel-good" movies ever made! It isn't often that a movie makes you both Sad and happy at the same time and makes you want to stand up and cheer at the ending, but FREE WILLY was one of the few movies that did it. Willy and Jesse met again in FREE WILLY 2 and it was great to see them together again, but unfortunately the enterprising premise (involving an oil spill in the ocean endangering Willy and his Family) turned out to be a bit too slow-paced and in some cases too hokey (like the scene where Jesse and Willy re-unite again after the first time Jesse plays the harmonica...it could have been thought out better). Also the film spent too much time dealing with the issues of Jesse's new Step-brother, Elvis. However, the suspenseful last half-hour of the movie was great. Which brings us to Part 3 which is actually almost as good as the first film and a lot better than part 2. The storyline (involving the wrongful and illegal hunting of Whales and Jesse & Randolph's quest to stop a crew of nasty hunters) is very well written and emotionally charged like the first movie. I wish this film was marketed and advertised better because it really deserves to be seen! It is emotional and heartfelt like the magic of the first FREE WILLY and in the end you will stand up and cheer. It's cool to see what has become of Jesse and how he has grown up and it is good to know that Jesse and Randolph will always stick together to do what is right! If you passed on this because you were afraid that it was more of the same, guess again! It is another wonderful story that deserves to be enjoyed again and again! Check it out!!!

Witchboard (1986)
10/10
A truly SCARY movie!
13 March 1999
Talk about a creepy movie...WITCHBOARD is one of those films that stays on your mind long after you've watched it because of its creepy mood and storyline. When a Young woman, Linda (played by the sexy Tawny Kitaen) gets addicted to using a friend's Ouija Board, she finds herself frequently talking to the spirit of a little boy (David) who died in a boat accident years before. The problem is that, although she doesn't know it, it isn't always David whom she is talking to...and before long she is beginning to experience the symptoms of "progressive entrapment" which means unknowningly opening herself up for possession!! Now it's up to Linda's husband Jim and her friend, Simon to figure out who is possessing the board and try to stop it before it's too late. This is a genuine Scary movie...it has a very creepy supernatural theme that will keep you intrigued as well as spooked. The mystery and suspense come together and create one hell of a freaky movie. The eerie camerawork and haunting score will keep you on the edge of your seat as the Wonderful cast attempts to unwind this thrilling mystery. Don't watch this alone at night or before you go to bed...unless you really want to go to bed spooked out! This movie goes down in history with the original A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST. as being one of the creepiest flicks ever made!

A total Blast!!
7 March 1999
Talk about a fantastic sequel!! I can remember seeing this film on the new release shelf at the video store when it first came out. I was both shocked and eager to see that there was a sequel to the classic horror movie: SLEEPAWAY CAMP (a movie with one of the most shocking endings in film history). The pictures on the back of the box made me even more excited...a woman getting drowned in an outhouse toilet (gotta love it) and a decomposed corpse rotting away in a sleeping bag. I immediately rented it! To my surprise the film was just as wonderful as the first movie! The characters were a blast, the camp atmosphere was TREEmendous (you gotta love a horror movie that takes place at camp), the special make-up effects were fantastic, and the film left an impact on me just like the first one did! I loved everything about this movie! It's loads of fun and if you're a horror movie buff You can't miss this masterpiece of a sequel. The storyline is smart, witty, and well put together and throughout the movie, you'll be having a blast watching it! Angela is Back and Badder than ever! So break out the marshmallows and gather around the campfire...or better yet, get down to your local video store and rent this rare Treat! A Must-see!!!

8MM (1999)
A Haunting and disturbing Brilliant Realistic Masterpiece!!
26 February 1999
The intensely intriguing storyline of 8MM follows the haunting search by a private investigator (played superbly by Nicolas Cage) for the makers of a grotesque and disturbing snuff film in which a young woman is murdered. Starting by looking through endless missing persons files (in an attempt to identify the victim), Cage ultimately follows leads to the world of underground seaze films and the people who are involved in making them. Throughout his creepy investigation, Cage becomes more and more disturbed by the Snuff film and stops at nothing in an attempt to track down answers to what really happened. This film is So intriguing and suspenseful, there are scenes that will leave your heart pounding in anticipation of what's to come. I don't know if I have ever seen such an intriguing and suspenseful Drama/Thriller ever before! This film is so realistic, there are times when you feel as if what is going on is real, and you begin to feel more for the characters than you usually do in a film. The last 20 minutes of the film are heart pounding and breathtaking! Director Joel Schumacher delivers one of the most mind haunting dramas you will ever see and gives us a story that won't be easy to forget. It's dark, moody, creepy, brilliant, and disturbing! And when all the pieces finally come together, you'll be glad you went along for the ride. Wow, It's a sick world we live in!! I give this movie 4 out of 4 stars!

Back On Track for a Good time!!
25 February 1999
A Big improvement over the rather slow-paced part 2, KARATE KID 3 gets things back on track in a great way! Part 3 is much more like the first film as we watch Daniel get bullied by a rude Karate Hot-shot (and his buddies) that he will eventually fight in the tournament at the end of the movie. All of it is so that Kove (the villainous sinse of the first film) can watch Daniel pay for putting an end to his ruthless teaching methods. This movie is a great fun to watch, a real crowdpleaser like the first film. Full of beautiful scenery, nicely choreographed fight-scenes, and the priceless interaction between Daniel and Miyagi..this film is a genuine good time!! After seeing such a great part 3, I can only wonder why they didn't bring The Karate Kid and Mr. Miyagi together again for part 4...??

The Blob (1988)
10/10
Exciting, Suspenseful, Fun, and filled with Incredible Special Effects!!
25 February 1999
Don't let the slimy title fool you, this movie is One hell of a ride!! Kevin Dillon and Shawnee Smith are wonderful as the Hero and Heroine in this special-effects packed thrill ride. Dillon as the high-school misfit and the beautiful Smith as a sexy cheerleader are the only 2 people to have witnessed the giant slime and lived...and when the inhabitants of the small town they live in begin getting sucked up and dissolved by the giant sucker, their quick thinking may be the only chance the town has got!! Created as a biological warfare weapon, the government's experiment went bad! Real Bad! Now, the giant mass of slime is getting bigger and bigger with every person it digests!! The Special-Effects here are totally incredible and well worth enjoying over and over again! A few in particular fun and amazing scenes include The Blob slurping up unlucky audience members at a movie theater, sucking up unlucky victims at the local hospital, and chasing our heroes through the town sewer!! The chase scenes are very suspenseful and a delight to watch! As for the blob, we're not talking a Giant bowl of Jell-O here, we are talking one mean looking mass of slime from Outer Space!! The Design and Effect departments on this movie outdid themselves 20 times over!! The cast is great, the film is suspenseful, intriguing, and very well constructed with some of the best special effects in movie history! And it all leads up to a spectacular finale in the town center that is full of Blob Mayhem that will leave you drooling on the edge of your seat! If you are looking for an action, adventure, sci-fi/horror blockbuster, Look no further...here comes THE BLOB (1988)!!

Scarecrows (1988)
10/10
Creepy, Atmospheric, great special effects, and one hell of a horror movie!!
22 February 1999
SCARECROWS is one of those films that never seemed to get much recognition when it came out, yet it is one of the best horror movies ever made!! A group of bank-robbers must land their hijacked cargo plane in a deserted cornfield out in the middle of nowhere when one member of their group (Burt) greedily parachutes out of the plane with the stolen money. Unfortunately Burt must find where the money landed amidst the giant cornfield and get away before the rest of his angry group track him down...but that's only half the problem! The other problem is that unbeknownst to Burt and the rest of the robbers is that somewhere lurking around in the fields are some of the scariest looking scarecrows in motion picture history and they're not just hanging around! They're out for Blood! But with so many scarecrows hanging around throughout the fields, how do you know which ones are alive and which ones are not? As Burt and the rest of the robbers begin to discover that something supernatural is possessing these cornfields, they're in for the Fright of their lives (and deaths) as they become hunted throught the dark night fields! This film is incredible! The scarecrows are some of the scariest looking Movie Monsters ever created! The special effects are both Gruesome, realistic, and amazing! The movie is very suspenseful and atmospheric. The haunted cornfield sets for one hell of a creepy mood and the supernatural story will keep you on the edge of your seat. If You are looking for a truly frightening and wonderful horror film that you may have missed the first time around, Look No Further...SCARECROWS is one hell of a ride!!!

Critters 2 (1988)
10/10
A Sci-Fi/Horror BLOCKBUSTER!
15 February 1999
CRITTERS 2 has to be one of the best Sci-Fi/Horror films ever made!! It's a blockbuster!! It is full of great Special-Effects, Fun Characters, and it's an all-out good time! I'm surprised that this film doesn't have more recognition. There's action, suspense, and the countryside town of Grover's Bend gives the film a great Atmosphere. Scott Grimes is back as Bradley Brown, who returns to Grover's Bend to spend Easter Vacation with his Grandmother. Unfortunately, some of the Critter Eggs that had been undiscovered in the Brown's old Barn are about to hatch and the Town is in for a Big surprise!! Also returning are Don Opper AND Terrence Mann as the space-hopping Bounty Hunters who come to finish off what they thought they had destroyed before! The Town that never believed Brad Brown suddenly learns that the Critters are real and must all join forces to try and stop the critters before they become Lunch! The Critter Effects are Top-Notch and the film is fun and exciting!! Just like the first CRITTERS, Part 2 is a cult classic and deserves better recognition!!!

Feels Like FRIDAY
9 January 1999
Even though this sequel leaves you wondering if the killer is really Jason or Not, It still has all the same feel, fun, and grue as any other Friday The 13th movie! As a matter of fact, The gore in this chapter is some of the best in the series! The finale of the movie, which is a chase scene in the rain that ultimately ends in a barn, is full of suspense and atmosphere! What's funny is that SCREAM gets credit for using the "Who Is The Killer" scenario, but FRIDAY THE 13th: A NEW BEGINNING did it first and did a damn good job!! I would recommend this movie to any true FRIDAY THE 13th Fan...whether or not you don't know if Jason is the killer until the end is just another fun reason to enjoy this great flick!!!
