Beauty and the Beast (1987)
ON DVD - Finally
First thing I'd like to say is that on Feb 6th, 2007, the first season of Beauty and the Beast will be released on DVD. It can be pre-ordered thru Amazon.com.
This program was a wonderful example of the best of TV. It was caring, sensitive, romantic, and well-written (the first 2 seasons anyway). No wonder they took it off.
Ron Perlmann's "Vincent" was always one of the most caring characters ever put on TV and was always the biggest draw for me. Linda Hamilton was beautiful and strong. Roy Dotrice was wonderful as "Father" and and really enjoyed some of the other characters that lived in Vincent's world, especially "Mouse".
Smallville: Thirst (2005)
Well, Duh!!!
When I first heard that James Marsters was going to be in this season's "Smallville" I was so happy to see him on another of my favorite shows, and I was wondering how they would use him. In giving the show an episode that revolved around vampires was a stretch, but was a wonderful connection to introduce his character.
I loved the fact that in giving James Marsters the first of his major part in this series that they gave a "tip of the hat" to the role for which he is most known.
Buffy Sanders the Vampire = Buffy Summers the Vampire Slayer, and the part where Clark says that there are vampires on campus and Marsters character states "Clark, there are no such thing as Vampires." was wonderful. It was a perfect use of Marsters and homage to "Spike" whom we all know and love.
Behemoth the Sea Monster (1959)
Great fun for all
I first saw this show when I was very young (when it first came out). In fact, I believe it was the first "horror" show I was allowed to see, I was 7. It gave me such nightmares at the time that my mother refused to let me see any of the genre films until I was in my teens.
When I recently saw it again, it brought a smile to my face. It was one of those movies that was so bad it was good.
The "special" effects were very Dr. Who-ish. The monster was pathetic and the acting very bad. The budget must have been smaller than mine, LOL.
This movies rates up there with "Plan 9" and others.
A lot of fun to watch.
The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course (2002)
FUN!!!
As a fan of Steve & Terri, I figured I should see the movie, and I'm glad I did. Great fun was had.
The movie was very similar to the TV series, it was like flipping channels to a very corny spy show.
Steve & Terri were themselves, just as on the show.
Go for a good time, laugh hard.
Laura (1944)
One of the Best!
This is one of the best of the "film noir" type of movie. Gene Tierney is absolutely wonderful.
The atmosphere of the movie is so much a part of the movie it should be credited. The suspense is well plotted.
Excellent!
You've Got Mail (1998)
Great Romantic Story
This movie was a wonderful romantic movie. Not as good as "Sleepless" but was good anyway.
This movie shows the new way that relationships are formed and that the person that we are currently with is not necessarily the right person for us, and that friendships that start as just as strangers meeting can mean more than anything.
Yes, it's first few minutes seemed like interminable commercials for AOL and Starbucks but, once that is over the movie was truly enjoyable.
Love Letters (1999)
Romantic & Though Provoking
This movie was very well done. The history of the life long affair and correspondence of Melissa and Andrew was involved and captured my attention from the start. The movie reminded me of the power of words in a relationship. It brought tears to my eyes by the end of movie. It was wonderful and I hope that it is released on video for purchase, as I forgot to start my VCR.
