What the Deaf Man Heard (1997)
Is it really worth ninety minutes of your life?
This film had several flaws. Firstly, it progressed too slowly. The main character had very little to do in this film, which I suppose couldn't be helped given the plot. Almost the entire film was spent retelling the lives of other people. Secondly, the characters and plot were unrealistic. Are we really to believe that someone would be able to convince others of his deafness for so many years without being found out? And the supporting characters were too melodramatic. They over acted at every turn.
The Mummy (1999)
Better than expected
The previews of this film on the TV made it seem like it was mainly concerned with the occult and fantasy. But seeing the film made me realise that it is much more than that. It is actually an interesting film with likeable characters and brilliantly choreographed action sequences, not to mention the dazzling special effects!!
Muriel's Wedding (1994)
Good film, terrible ending
The film was very good up until the end. Toni Collette gives an excellent performance. She really makes you feel for her character. When she's sad, you're sad and when she's happy, you're happy. The ending was the only bad part about the film. I thought it ended too suddenly. Too many things were left unresolved.
Major Payne (1995)
Not really that good
Major Payne was really not very good at all. Despite being funny here and there, the story was ridiculous and the acting was poor. Major Payne's voice and temperament were especially annoying. The idea was ridiculous and the things that the boys had to do in that film were even more ridiculous. I would not recommend this film to anyone.
'Breaker' Morant (1980)
A very good film
The film gives an excellent re-creation of the events that happened in the past. The actors were outstanding. They did an excellent job at re-creating the people involved. They really made you think that they were the real people and the events were really happening to them.
True Lies (1994)
The best movie I have ever seen!
True Lies is the best movie I have ever seen! It has everything - Action, drama, romance and comedy. The story is well written and the action scenes well choreographed. So far I have watched it 5 times and it never seems to get boring.
Dark City (1998)
Not Very Good.
I saw Dark City for my birthday and I am beginning to wish I hadn't. I found the movie very boring. The idea was good, but the storyline just didn't grab me. I was sitting there in the theatre, looking at my watch thinking, "When is this going to end?" I really didn't like it at all.
