Slap Her, She's French! (2002)
So much fun!
It's such a shame when a distribution company is in such financial trouble that after spending so much money to promote a movie, that none is left to actually release it. Such is the case, thus far, with this film. Apparently, Slap Her... She's French was released to theaters in Germany (under the title Freche Biester!) by a German distribution company back in January, 2002. It's been released there on DVD, and boy am I glad that it was. If not, I may have never been able to see it. All in all, I found it to be quite fun and exciting! Piper Perabo does a terrific job as French foreign exchange student Genevieve Le Plouff. It's nice to see her in a comedy that's not so awful (i.e. Rocky & Bullwinkle). Jane McGregor also thoroughly entertains as the film's main character, Starla Grady. The film itself kind of reminded me of a Bring It On meets Drop Dead Gorgeous, but in a good way (since I really didn't care much for either). Anyway, enough with my rambling; My point is, if this film is ever release theatrically or on video here in the US, or wherever you live, go see it. It's pretty darn fun!
American Psycho II: All American Girl (2002)
Surprisingly entertaining!
I just finished watching American Psycho 2, and I'm happy to say that I don't feel like I've wasted 90 minutes of my life. The plot of the film can loosely be described as a sequel to American Psycho, but only as Urban Legends: Final Cut can be called a sequel to Urban Legend. The lovely and talented Mila Kunis does a terrific job in the lead role. I hope that this will only be the first of many for her. It's a shame that this film didn't receive a theatrical run though. Even a limited one would have sufficed. Oh well... All in all, I would definitely recommend renting it. It's both funny and gory, what more could you ask for? Just a word of warning to fans of the first film and Christian Bale: This film contains flashback scenes involving the character of Patrick Bateman. But, they are not scenes from the first film, nor does Mr. Bale play the part of Patrick Bateman. No need to fear though, you can't see his face very well and he doesn't speak.
This has to be one of the most enjoyable direct to video Lions Gate titles that I've seen thus far. I wouldn't call it 'quality entertainment', but come on, it has William Shatner as a college professor/Ex-FBI agent. Go Captain Kirk! So, THUMBS UP to this one! Yeah!
Moon Over Miami (1993)
A Wonderful Short-lived Series
Moon over Miami was a very cute show. Bill Campbell played Walter Tatum, a detective. Ally Walker played Gwen, a girl who escaped from her own wedding by jumping off of a boat and swimming to shore. Walter was put on the case to find her, which he did, and later agreed to hire her as his receptionist. Gwen always wanted to help solve a case, which began some sexual tension between she and Walter that lasted until the show ended. It brought about memories of David and Maddie (Bruce Willis and Cybil Shepard) on Moonlighting. If it ever appears in reruns, give it a chance.
Hush (1998)
Pretty Darn Good!
Ok, so maybe this wasn't the best movie ever made. And maybe you can totally tell which scenes that they had to go back and film because of Gwyneth Paltrow's horrible wig. But even with these factors, I have to say that the movie was pretty good. It's worth seeing, if not only to see a mediocre thriller with a great cast.
