Pia de' Tolomei (1941)
Beautiful middle ages period piece with well done costumes and sets
Several years ago I acquired a print of this film on 35MM nitrate stock. Recently I was able to have a telecine made of it on a Rank Cintel wetgate system. Finally I was able to view this piece of Italian cinema history. Not speaking Italian, I have not yet been able to get the details of the story other than it is a tragic story of love that was not meant to be. It is set in the 1300's amid a rich tapestry of castles and costumes. Fortunately the print is in near mint condition so that once I can get it subtitled, it will be released for the world to see. One more classic film rescued from the dust of time.
Tempo massimo (1934)
A cute film about a meek coddled professor who finds himself when a beautiful young woman enters his life.
This film is the story of young man, coddled by his butler and rich, but overbearing mother, who finally wakes up to life and love when a beautiful young lady falls (literally) into his life. The film, set in Milan Italy features light hearted action, a rather funny bicycle race and a keystone cops style car chase near the end through downtown Milan. It is a love story in the style of Topper and Topper Returns. The film is Italian language and has recently been transferred from nitrate stock on a Rank Cintel wet gate telecine system. The quality of the print is near mint. This is another victory of film preservation from the dust of time.
