This is a sweet, if dated and slightly corny, film about behaviorally oriented stuttering therapy. Austin Pendleton was (and I suppose remains) a real-life stutterer who went through therapy similar to that depicted in the film.

I wish the film had extrapolated more on the therapy techniques used to treat stutterers. A moving and tearful speech made by Dan Shor's character Julian near the end would have been even more effective if we had seen some of his breakthroughs. But for a low-budget venture produced by the Hollins Communications Research Institute--a mirror image of the institute depicted in the film--Talk to Me serves as a touching and educational account of stuttering therapy in the early 80's.

The point of this program seems to be to film an animal doing, you know, something that an animal does, like roll around in the dirt and smell things, and dub over it with a very unfunny, often strange commentary. I find myself sitting in front of the TV, listening intently for an eventual punchline and being ultimately disappointed and perplexed. At least Bob Saget's bad jokes made sense.

Additionally I'm convinced that the host is in fact our first undercover android TV personality.

But I still watch it. I'm an animal lover and its only competition at 6am is infomercials and stock market reports.

This is a very good movie. I think that if you haven't seen this movie you should RUN not walk to your local movie store and buy it or to your local movie rental and rent it! HANSON RULEZ!!!!!!!
