It's fun...
9 April 1999
This is a teen comedy... nothing less but a little more. She's All That is the typical rags to riches, ugly duckling kinda story that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy. Zac Siler is the hero, sportsman, braniac, popular and all round good guy. He is also a shoe in for Prom King. When the fabulous Mr Siler gets dumped dramatically by campus cow and Prom-Queen-to-be, Taylor Vaughn, Zac and best mate Dean make a bet that he can turn any girl as nominated by Dean into the prom queen. Enter Lanie Boggs, artist-in-waiting and school weirdo. Zac pursues Lanie on the bet but along the way, he... never mind! Don't want to spoil the movie for you.

Light, fluffy and baked to perfection, She's All That is a real winner and can only be enjoyed if you take it for what it is; entertainment.

Oooompf!
9 April 1999
You gotta have oompf, you know, that indescribable something that makes you jump up and down in your theatre seat, stops you from taking a mid-movie toilet break or causes you to stand up and applaud at the end of the movie, much to the dismay of your companions. Cruel Intentions has plenty of oompf that takes your pleasure to an unknown level. Cruel Intentions is the tale of two of Manhattan's upper class brats who have unrestrained fetishes for sex. Cathryn and Sebastien make a little bet that he can bed the eternal virgin Annette. Should he win, he also gets Cathryn. But if he loses, then he can kiss good bye his porsche.

Sarah Michelle Gellar plays the perfect little vixen as Cathryn. She is vicious, vindictive and obviously has a knack of getting whatever, or should I say, whoever she wants. Ryan Phillipe (Sebastien) is the cheeky and charming 'bed hero' of the film. And in stark contrast to these two, is Reese Witherspoon, the Daddy's Little Girl as Annette.

Powerful, entertaining and boldly offensive. Half the appeal of this movie is the way in which social taboos are shot down. It's naughty, it's bold and it's damn fine entertainment. If you haven't already, go and see the movie!

REPORT CARD FOR I STILL KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER
2 December 1998
STORYLINE: Has good intentions and this story line has not reached its full potential. Needs a lot more work with writing skills. GRADE: B- SCRIPT: This is an area where 'I Still Know...' needs much improvement. Tries to be witty and amusing but fails miserably in some areas. GRADE: C-

ACTING: Stronger characters emerge from Jennifer Love Hewitt. Generally, an area which makes this movie watchable. GRADE: B+

COMEDY: As with writing, tries to be funny, but can't quite get there. Some very cute one-liners though. GRADE: C-

SCARES AND THRILLS: Don't try! I was expecting to be on the edge of my seat for this movie but ended up playing with my chewing gum during the "scary" scenes. I think the fact that the supsenseful parts were just too predictable and ruined it. GRADE: D+

OVERALL COMMENTS: 'I Still Know...' falls along way behind its predecessor. This movie almost tries to shock you with extra gory deaths (the garden shears were a nice touch... variation on a hook) which makes the film look ridiculous rather that scary. I am overjoyed that this movie was short so I didn't have to waste my time seeing it. A scary movie that fails miserably at being scary. OVERALL GRADE: D for Don't bother seeing me!!

Brilliant!
26 November 1998
I'm sure that I could dribble on for hours on how fantastic I thought this movie was!

Saving Private Ryan is a powerful and moving account of a World War II mission to save Private Ryan whose three brothers were killed in action.

I think that the most powerful part of this movie was the fact that the huge loss of life that the viewers were confronted with actually did occur. For so many years, the world was bogged down in war and mothers, wives, sisters, daughters and the like lost some of the men that meant the most to them.

Saving Private Ryan is one of those movies you have got to see. To miss this flick is a tragedy. Perhaps if we are reminded of how horrific war is, the world will think twice about having another one.

Clueless (1996–1999)
A full on Monet...
26 October 1998
What a let down! I was so excited to learn of the existence of the television series 'Clueless'. I loved the movie with Alicia Silverstone and was looking forward to weekly installments of Cher's life. The television series pales in contrast to the movie. It lacks the same zest as appeared in the screen version. Rachael Blanchard can't quite carry it off the way Silverstone as is the case with Doug Sheehan who plays Mel. Overall, this series is really a Monet; alright from afar but up close it's just a big ol' mess.

The Craft (1996)
Welcome to the witching hour...
23 October 1998
The Craft is a fantastic movie for those who like comedy, action and sci-fi. When Sarah (Robin Tunney) has to up and move with her father and step-mother, she is befreinded by the Bitches of Eastwick; the schools outcasts. Nancy is a specialist in promiscuity, Bonnie is horribly scarred from an accident and Rochelle is segregated as she's black. The girls find solace in Wicca, the practise of witchcraft. With their newfound powers, the foursome set about making life hell for those who shunned them. However, when Nancy starts using her power for evil and self-indulgence, it's up to Sarah to stop her. This movie is magical, mystical and thrilling with a truckload of attitude.

This film is cute!
12 October 1998
Can't Hardly Wait is definitely not Academy Award material but it certainly entertains. Can't Hardly Wait is the glimpse into the life of a raucous bunch of seniors at the party on graduation night. Ethan Embry is Preston Meyers who has been head over heels in love with Amanda Beckett (Jennifer Love Hewitt) since freshman year. What entails are Preston's last ditch efforts to win Amanda's heart before he takes off for Boston. This is an amusing little tale of romance and high school revenge, probably more suited to teenagers and younger people.
