Hard Ball (2001)
change the name to Lame Ball
Keanu what were you thinking. You had the nerve to turn down Speed 2 and not pass up this piece of garbage? I'm also ashamed for Diane Lane. Was it simply for the paycheck honey? I would watch Corky Romano 4 more times than sit through this load of a movie. Terrible acting punctuates this horror. This movie is as phony as all of those Chicken Soup for the Soul books. Good kids movie or for delusional adults that believe in fairy tales.
The Hot Chick (2002)
Lame, lame, lame
Rob you owe me $32! I treated friends who never walk out on a movie to see this. After the credits rolled having never laughed they wished they had listend to me and walked out over an hour earlier. What a piece of garbage this movie was. This movie is made for young teenagers that laugh at the same joke over & over & over. I liked Duece and Animal, but this movie was never funny or entertaining. Be prepared to be bored and have gags spelled out for you. The director really dumbed down the jokes. Think Dirty Work or lower..........
Unfaithful (2002)
surely not up for an oscar
I went to this movie after hearing great buzz about possible Oscar worthy scenes. The movie started off strong, but soon all the holes began to appear and the last half-hour was very ordinary and boring. The whole premise of cheating was not explained. Why if someone is leading a perfect life would they start cheating? At least they could have showed problems in the marriage, but they kept showing a loving union between Lane & Gere. Save your money and watch this on TBS, minus the steamy scenes of course.
The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)
The least funny comedy of all time!
How dare this movie be billed as a comedy? At it's best it's a poorly done drama. The few people that did laugh in the packed theater smacked of the fake Broadway play guffaw. The sound was coming from a person so desperately trying to convince everyone else that this film was funny.
My wife & I wasted two free tickets on this piece of garbage. The movie starts off really slow introducing characters. Every few minutes you meet another person and get a little background all the while thinking it's going to get funny any minute now. You soon realize that will not happen, but you continue to wait.
This was the first time my wife has ever walked out of the theater before the movie credits. Unfortunately it took 55 minutes to get that annoyed. I was ready to leave after 8 minutes, but instead I counted the total number of people who walked out early. Eleven people walked out prior to our hasty exit and countless others were discussing how bad this movie is.
In summary it was one of the slowest moving movies I have ever witnessed. Save your money it will be on network TV soon enough. I really doubt a premium movie channel will even purchase the rights to air it.
Zebra Lounge (2001)
Starts off good & quickly becomes predictable
The movie started off with an interesting plot line. A married couple with children toys with the idea of becoming swingers. The movie follows the awkward steps the couple takes to finally go through with the idea.
The acting was good for a B movie, but the plot became too unreal. Once they meet another couple how do they stop the relationship? What if the new couple won't stop calling them? This and every other lame idea you can come up with begins to happen. If not for the well-shot scenes of Kristy kissing Brandy this movie would be a real clunker.
Scary Movie (2000)
Lighten up folks!!!!!
After reading about 75 reviews for this movie I wonder how nobody mentions the star of the movie - Doofy? I almost fell out of my chair when this character first appeared on screen. What a tribute to David Cox! Get it more sexual innuendo for all you puritans.
All you religious lunatics complained about the sexual scenes. Some homophobes complained that they needed female nudity. It was there, but guess you were more interested in watching the male portions. One person even stated that they had to keep telling their friend that "this was the worst movie ever". What is wrong with you people? If the movie was so against your values why did you stay? Quit trying to protect the children, you already do a poor enough job. Responsible parents don't take kids to an "R" rated movie.
I really thought this movie was going to be lame, like most other spoof movies. It was a great treat to actually leave laughing. Even the known trailers had surprises in them.
