Was it perfect? No. But I wasn't expecting perfection. It was fantasy, and as such it was a new world to be explored by the viewer. Since I don't watch a lot of fantasy stuff, I didn't have a lot of other stories/shows to compare it to. So to me it was pretty good. I would have preferred that the director have allowed David James Elliott to continue using the Scots accent that he started with (instead of telling him to stop since he was afraid that no one would be able to understand him. I understood DJE better than I did the actress who played Perfidia. Not sure if the problem there was her accent or the fake fangs she was forced to wear for her role.) I wouldn't mind seeing this go to series, although I know that it won't. I think that there were still stories to be told about the Knights of Bloodsteel.

I really enjoyed this show, mostly because it marked the return to TV of David James Elliott. I followed him for ten years on "JAG", and missed him when it wasn't renewed by CBS. I'm glad they realized that he could bring a new fan-base to "Close to Home". Looking forward to seeing the rest of the season.

The ensemble feel of the show works very well - and I can't wait to find out more about all of them. Why did Jon Seda's character Ray have a problem running after the perp - and what whistle did 'Williams' blow to become a police department pariah? How will Annabeth deal with the loss of her husband and being a single mom? What changes will Jimmy Conlon bring to the office - and how will Maureen react in the long term to the man who took the job that she thought should have been hers?

I remember watching this movie on TV when it first aired and a couple of times after that. It hasn't been aired in *ages*, and I have to wonder why it's not aired during the Christmas season, and why it hasn't been released on DVD and/or VHS. I'd prefer DVD, though. Mickey Rooney was wonderful in this movie, as was a young Scott Grimes (now on ER)

Annie Potts played a TV reporter looking for the spirit of Christmas in New York City, but can't seem to do so. Every lead only draws her to the conclusion that the Christmas spirit is gone, and depresses her. But the ending with the grandfather and grandson and their family restores not only her faith, but the faith of an entire city.

You really owe it to yourself to see this movie. It's a wonderful, uplifting movie that shows the importance of family and friends. Call and write your local theatres to see if they're going to show it, and if not, why not? Tell all of your friends about it, ask them to make those calls as well and then get up a group to go and see "Evelyn".

Pierce Brosnan does a great job as Desmond Doyle, proving that he can do much more than just be James Bond. The supporting cast, Juliana Margulies, Aidan Quinn, Alan Bates, and the little girl who played Evelyn" is perfect.

Please, don't let this movie pass you by!
