A Christmas Memory (1997)
This version absolutely sucks.
It is sad that anyone would remake something that was perfect. Do yourself a favor and do not watch this version as it is awful and reeks of staged nonsense that is boring and absolutely not in the vein with which Capote wrote the story.
The Great Race (1965)
Very, very funny.
This is a love story surrounded by humor that is indeed absurd at times but---it is meant to be so. A wonderful movie to show young people who want to know how one can be entertained without carnage and a heavy emphasis on sex. A must see if you have not.
The Sun Comes Up (1949)
A good family movie.
This is a movie that may be a bit corny by modern measure but a wonderful film to sit down with a young child and watch. Old time values--a slice of life with real problems---a happy ending.
The Full Monty (1997)
Couldn't get into it!
This is one of those movies which I suppose I just didn't "get" and my opinion was that it was mediocre with few redeeming qualities.
Deconstructing Harry (1997)
Among the worst movies in ten years.
Mr. Allen is floundering. It appears Mr. Allen somehow thinks, in this pathetic movie, that by using extreme vulgarity he is "hip" or "current" or whatever. Mr. Allen looks tired and worn out and gives the impression of a "has been" rather than someone of the "now" generation to which he apparently is desperately attempting to cling. I have been a fan of Mr. Allen's for many years but sadly I feel it is time for him to quit if he can do no better than this.
Love at First Bite (1979)
Excellent humor, perfect cast.
Hamilton has always been a versatile actor who has been, for some reason, very much overlooked. This movie is, by definition, silly humor but the cast carries the story perfectly and anyone who needs a relaxing evening of an excellent love story will not be disappointed.
