Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas (2021)
Great Addition to an extraordinary series
I was sad when Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist disappeared. And now it is back as a Christmas movie! The keyword for this movie is extraordinary. It perfectly describes the acting, singing and choreography. Loved it!
The Goodbye Girl (1977)
Not a Classic but one not to be forgotten
We picked up this movie for the family recently. Often the kid's don't like the "older" movies but this one kept everyone's attention all the way through. Richard Dreyfuss was very funny as the starving actor. I think he was at his best in this movie. The little girl, Quinn Cummings was also excellent. I was interested to note that she didn't do too much acting after Goodbye Girl. Apparently she went on to write comedy.
This movie is not the perfect family movie. It has some bad language and suggested sexual overtones but compared to many it was a pleasant movie. I wouldn't put it on the list of classics but I would put it on a list to see again.
Stepmom (1998)
The Kids Stole the Show
The child stars of this movie stole the show. While all of the acting was excellent, the two younger stars, Jena Malone & Liam Aiken did a fantastic job. I went with my family and the kids really enjoyed children's characters.
As for the plot it was very good but not at all what I expected. We had gone to what we thought would be a light hearted movie and found instead a real tear-jerker. My kids (boys aged 9, 12 & 15) found it to be a bit long. The youngest waited patiently for it to end. My wife cried a lot & complained that she didn't know to bring tissues. None of us expected it to be so sad.
