Young Guns II (1990)
Not "two" bad of a movie
At first I didn't think that Young Guns was the type of movie to have a sequel. I was wrong. Young Guns II is an awesome movie! The story of Billy the Kid could not be complete with both movies. The first movie kept me on my toes. It was funny and amazing. The second movie was more intriguing and in depth. Most sequels don't live up to the original but this one does! If you want the whole story, see both movies.
Armageddon (1998)
Pulled off very well
Armageddon was an amazing movie! The only problem was that it was not believable. The chance that a group of oil drillers can learn everything they need to know about space travel in a couple of days is hard to believe. There was only one thing that made of for the unbelievable; the writing. The story was written by Robert Roy Pool and Jonathan Hensleigh. The story was later adapted for the movie by Tony Gilroy and Shane Salerno. The screenplay was written by Jonathan Hensleigh (who also wrote the story) and J.J. Abrams. These five men made an unbelievable story one of the most believable stories to watch.
Other than the writing, I loved the camera shots! John Schwartzman did a terrific job as director of photography. This movie had some of the most beautiful camera shots when the story started getting patriotic or serious. I will admit though that most of the camera shots I'm talking about are of Liv Tyler. The others are of the people of the world during the president's speech.
The acting job in this movie was not that bad. I can't really say too much because I am a HUGE Bruce Willis fan. They did though pick a great cast for an action-adventure-comedy. The only thing about the acting was Bruce Willis playing a father figure and Ben Affleck becoming a big baby at the end crying, "It's my job, it's my job!" But again, no one could have found a better group of actors for this movie.
In my opinion, if you haven't seen the movie, see it! If you have, buy it! Armageddon makes a great movie to watch over and over again with family, friends, dates, or just to watch when you're in the mood for an amazing movie!
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
A movie worth seeing again and again.
This movie is one of the few movies that I love to see over and over again. Each time I see it, I learn more and more. Like figuring out the joke about "salvation lies within." I also learned that the movie is more about Red than it is about Andy. It is as if Andy was sent there by God to give Red hope and to bring good to what was evil within. This movie has everything a movie needs. It makes you laugh, cry, and feel really good, giving you a feeling of hope.
