Hellraiser (1987)
...and they told it's a good movie (4/10)
Clive Barker ?
I think he is the 2nd horror writer of the last years, after the King of course. However, I think we are lucky that he worked much more on the books than on the movies. This "great" 80s horror cult movie is the proof of that. No sense, no emotions, no surprise, just some disgusting scenes.
When I watched the trailer in 1987, i was attracted by the cube and shocked by pinhead. Finally I watched the movie, and, you know, the cube is amazing as rubik's magic (TM), and pinhead is one of the less expressive characters/actors I've ever seen.
4/10...
and for those that keep sayin' "it's good compared too those 80s horror movies".... hey, wake up, Nightmare on Elm Street was produced in 1984.
Primate (1974)
evolution
In this research lab, scientists are studying apes to discover how the evolutional paths of apes and men had became different. The watcher will probably feel nearest to the apes than to the scientist in the documentary, maybe this is the answer to the question about the separation between the evolutional paths.
Rope (1948)
do not watch the italian version
The italian dubbing of the movie changes completely its main idea. In the italian version there is no murder, there we have a casual accident. Lucky me, i watched it in english for the 1st time, and then in italian.
However the movie is interesting, but there is no suspense. The idea comes from a theatre play, that comes from real life, so it was easy for Hitch to create an interesting movie.
James Stewart has nothing in common with his students, i think Hitch had to choose someone else for that character (infact initially he wanted Gary Grant for the movie, but Gary didn't want to play that role).
Brandon was great.
The idea of using just a camera is nice. I still don't know if it's 6/10 or 7/10.
Una storia semplice (1991)
Great mistery move from last Leonardo Sciascia book
This is a great movie. We have another great performance by Gian Maria Volonte, and all the young cast (actually all of them are among the best italian actors) worked very well around him. It's a nice mistery movie, that tells Sicily in Sciascia's way. 8 out of 10.
El Alamein - La linea del fuoco (2002)
Not bad, but nothing new
Hey, we are in 2002, we have seen a lot of war movies like this.
Kubrick's "Paths of glory" in the fifties, and then all those movies about the war in Vietnam. Ok, it is not bad, but it's easy to make a movie like this after Kubrick, Coppola, and so on. The only new thing here is the soundtrack. I was expecting something more by Emilio Solfrizzi (Lt. Fiore), but Favino and Briguglia were ok. 6/10
Topkapi (1964)
ridicule plan
In a movie about a robbery, I think the first thing is that the plan is smart and credible. In this movie the plan is just ridiculous in many points. Walter Harper is one of the dumbest band leader I've ever seen. Elizabeth Lipp as femme fatale is very far from being credible. It's because of Peter Ustinov, Robert Morley, and the locations that the vote is not less then 5 out of 10.
