The Lion King (1994)
Fantastic Animation (with a capital "A").... Superb voices!
For sure I am a Disney-fan. But perhaps I don't like the enormous media hype which is there whenever a new Disneyanimation hits the cinemas.
The power of this movie is that it's both for kids and adults. And because I am a bit of both! I had the time of my life! DO BELIEVE THE HYPE!
Aladdin (1992)
Genie-Genius Williams
Luckily for me I can understand a bit of English. So I could see this great animation without looking at the subtitles. And, because of the genius Robin Williams, I had a great (need) time. A funny story perhaps. I saw this movie with a friend of mine in a small movie theatre. Halfway the movie there was a part with some dialogue from princess Jasmine. My friend had dreamy eyes and said with a sigh: "what a woman!" Everybody in the theatre looked at him and laughed.
Who would have thought that animation could really be so lifelike, that someone could fall in love with Jasmine!
Een maand later (1987)
Typical Dutch?
No, I don't think so.... It also could have been a Hollywood picture. Not a very expensive one, because you don't see "need" special effects or computer-animation. It's just an actor's movie. Actors who play real people. And of course V/d Ven plays great. And the main thing....It's funny as well. The story is pretty original. Let's make this movie again. Take a young and upcoming director. Give good ol' Julia Roberts one of the leading roles, and voila!: a new hit!
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986)
nice....nothing more, nothing less
No, I don't like the ST-movies. I still prefer the tv-series, which I can't live without. But oh how nice, sometimes a ST-movie is shown on TV, and of course as a fan I watch them. This particular movie is one of the most enjoyable. But still I can't be hilarious about this one as well. It's a nice movie.... nothing more, nothing less. Why is it so hard to make a movie as strong as some of the episodes on TV? e.g. the episode(s) "Best of both worlds" could be a great SF-movie....
The Muppet Movie (1979)
For sentimental reasons: 10
This was the first movie I saw on the big screen when I was 7 years old. And still when I see this one on television I enjoy it as I did the first time... The songs, the funny dialogues....It's all supergiganticextraordinairy funny and sweet...... My kinda fun!!!
