Livredd (1997)
New record in overacting
This film takes place in Oslo, where an struggling writer get dragged down in the dangerous drug world. The film is rich in style and cool camera-angles, but it is lacking quite a bit in the story. The guy who plays the lead role does a fine job, but poor supporting actors makes this a rather bad movie. Lots of scenes are suffering from great overacting. 4 of 10.
Jing wu ying xiong (1994)
The Best Kung-Fu movie ever made!!!
The extrodinary movie with Jet Li is a remake of the old Bruce Lee classic Chinese Connection, a what a remake it is!
Fist of Legend tells the story of Chen Zhen (Li) who is a student in Japan during a time when Japan is trying to take control over China. Through a newspaper Chen finds out that his old master have been killed in a fight with a rivaling Kung-Fu school. Determined on finding out the truth about his death and revenging is master Chen travels back to China.
The movie starts with an incredible scene, where Jet Li really shows off his bone-breaking skills, this scene sets the standard for the rest of the movie and the fights get better and better to the final end. The kung-fu scenes are beautifully shot, and with great choreography and Jet Li the final product is the greatest kung-fu movie I have ever seen (and I have seen about every kung-fu movie there is).
Zui jia pai dang 3: Nu huang mi ling (1984)
Entertaining, but quite stupid...
In this third outing of the series, King Kong is hired by some people who say they work for the Queen of England. They claim that some jewelry from the crown has been stolen, and they want King Kong to steal it back. But things are not quite what they seem, and King Kong and Baldy are in trouble again.
Compared to the first two movies in the series this is the worst, it's not quite as action-packed as the others, but relies more on humour, which gets kind of stupid after a while. Maka, who plays Baldy, sets new records in overacting, and the Bond-inspired characters are quite lame.
Skip this one, and proceed directly to the next, which is better (Ringo Lam is the king).
Zui jia pai dang 2: Da xian shen tong (1983)
Lots of fun!
King Kong and Albert "Baldie" Au gets in trouble again, this time the mafia wants to avenge the death of White Glove. To do so they hire an assassin who has seen a couple of Clint Eastwood movies to many.
The movie is filled with great action sequences and lots and lots of humor. As usual in the aces series there are plenty of crazy stunts and weird stuff.
Much better than the first one.
The Haunting (1963)
Not scary at all
I've heard great things about this movie, which is about four people who are gonna spend some nights in this haunted house, but I was quite disappointed when I saw this.
The Haunting features no ghosts or graphic violence, but lots of sounds like knocking on the walls and people screaming and talking, which in this movie is not scary at all, rather quite boring.
The actors do a fine job, but are not able to save the movie. Now I'm definitively not gonna see the remake, because this one was supposedly better.
Fei lung mang jeung (1988)
Awesome fighting sequences!
This is another excellent movie with three of the greatest kung-fu masters in Hong Kong (Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Biao Yuen). The story is okay, but the love-stuff is kind of stupid. But that doesn't really matter, because the fighting scenes are really excellent. Not only do the three fight each other, but Jackie Chan also has another meeting with Benny "The Jet" Urquidez. A must see for all Jackie-fans!
