reality sets in

Robbery Homicide Division is the best new show of this season. I hope, i really hope, that it doesn't get canceled. Even the best shows are given little chance to grow these days if their ratings aren't immediately impressive. RHD has a great look, the high definition video is perfect for the subject matter. Yes, this is the TV version of Heat. Tom Sizemore is absolutely perfect. The pilot was amazing. I can't say enough good things about this show. It shows you a glimpse of the reality of being a cop in LA. Forget Boomtown, forget The Shield (well, maybe not The Shield) this is the real deal.

Firefly (2002–2003)
not your average roddenberry sci-fi
6 October 2002
Up until now, almost every science fiction television series made has followed the same formula as star trek. farscape changed it up a bit, but andromeda, babylon 5, and especially the new Enterprise are all the same old politically correct nonsense.

Joss Whedon is not known for being politically correct. Firefly breaks out of the current sci-fi mold and presents something new. I was enchanted from the opening moments of the 1st episode. I look forward the the playing of the original pilot, now the "origin special."

Firefly can only be compared to Cowboy Bebop I think in terms of it's style. There is nothing else like it. I have only a few concerns. One, that Joss Whedon will turn it into a soap-opera like he did with Buffy. But Firefly is not a bunch of high school kids so hopefully it will be different. I'm looking forward to some hardcore sci-fi. That brings me to my other concern. FOX isn't known for giving good quality shows a chance to gain an audience. I'm guessing that Firefly has only a week or two left to gain some numbers before FOX pulls the plug.

What a pity that would be.
