Navigating the Heart (2000 TV Movie)
1/10
Cliche, cliche, cliche, stereotype, stereotype, stereotype
20 March 2000
The first half hour was so predictable, cliche riddled, and stereotype performed, I couldn't force myself to watch any more. Sure Smith, Mathewson, and the scenery are pleasant to look at, but you couldn't like their characters enough or find anything interesting about them to want to watch them change.

Oliver Twist (1999)
9/10
A New All Time High for television drama
30 December 1999
I would have given it a 10, if it weren't for the commercials. Despite that this was the most detailed rendition of Twist I've ever seen, my 11 and 7 year old children were also completely absorbed by it. Where did all these great actors and actresses come from? Julie Walters in a small but masterfully played part was the only one I ever heard of before. Yet all the characterizations were brilliant - especially, perhaps, that of the bad guys: Fagin, Bill Sykes, Mr. Bumble, and Edwin and Elizabeth Leerford. Nancy and Rose were riveting, too. Bravo!

For those who think the 3 Stooges are funny.
21 August 1999
While Stiller, Diaz, and to some degree Dillon made this film bearable, it mostly stunk. It consisted mostly of cruel humor, cartoon acting, and pointless ruinous plot twists. Love stories don't work for me if the characters are this unbelievable.

This movie has the poetic beauty promised, but not much else.
14 April 1999
As the title promises, this movie comes with poetic beauty. Wertmuller's sight gags are still strong, but certainly this movie lacks the social-political timing and punching power that Swept Away ... and Seven Beauties had.

Beloved (1998)
A movie is not a book.
27 March 1999
I did not read the book. I am sorry for those who did and couldn't enjoy this movie. They should not be compared.

This movie flowed with a beautiful pageant of earthy colors and earthy as well as other-worldly feelings. I was transfixed.
