Freaks and Geeks (1999)
Excellent!
This is a fabulous show, and I'm sad that it hasn't caught on more. It's honestly written, and it actually makes you remember and feel the pain of high school (but I mean that in a GOOD way. =)) Sadly, I think this show is one of those (like Cupid and Relativity before it) that is just way too good for television and isn't long for it. Check it out! It's the best!
It's Tough to Be a Bug (1998)
It's buggin' cute!
Only someone who goes to Disney World and expects short lines could find this adorable cartoon silly. I thought the special effects were adorable (and I didn't hear the crying baby one...think some people are just a little too cynical) and the bugs were hilarious! And Kevin Spacey is a voice, to boot! Can't beat that!
The Sixth Sense (1999)
An amazing thriller
I can only compare this movie to a giant jawbreaker: deliciously slow to dissolve, many, many layers and it's always worth it. Sure, this movie is slow, but that's good. You can savor it, and at the end, you'll be thankful that it was so slow, ominous and quiet. I dare say this movie, despite a few plot holes I won't divulge here, is a near-masterpiece. The cast, the writing, the chills were impeccable. I won't be sleeping with the lights off anytime soon!
Dirty Work (1998)
Good God, People!
Sure, this movie is dumb. You were expecting "The Unbearable Lightness of Being"? Seeking enlightenment, were you? This movie was silly with absolutely no value at all, other than simply being a dumb, slapstick movie without any intellectual value. If you go into it with that frame of mind, I think you'll enjoy it (at a matinee price, of course) like I did. But if you go in expecting the world to open up for you, my friends, you are in the wrong place.
