A superb production in all respects. The acting by both Pearce and Caviezel was top drawer, location shoots and costuming couldn't have been better, and the minor liberties taken with the original manuscript are easily forgivable in light of the lush result!

I've greatly admired Guy Pearce's chameleon-like talent to take on all aspects of his character and couldn't be happier to see Jim Caviezel joined together with him in this project. I feel Mr. Caviezel is equally gifted and it was pure pleasure to see them work off one another so convincingly in this movie!

I thought this movie was a good romantic period piece in the tradition of Dickens. I enjoyed the performances of Slater and Leto, this being the movie that first brought Jared's acting abilities to my attention. Boy, is he ever a star to keep an eye on! I think many reviewers were overly critical of this film and cannot understand why it hasn't been released to video, at least? Any word on that possibility?
