Signs (2002)
What a stonker.
Once again I am surprised by people's reactions to one this director's movies. My review: Bland acting, rambling plot, cheesiest ending this decade. The one thing I liked in this movie is the superb camera directing.
Apart from that, I wish there was a way to reclaim those two hours stolen from my life. Absolutely the last time ever I paid money to see a movie by this guy.
Phenomenon (1996)
Sickening propaganda
What if a person can access his hidden potential? Wouldn't that be sooo good? You can in real life, you know. Just join scientology. The movie is a vehicle for exactly that thought.
Monday night movie at its worst, with a dubious (and in some nations illegal) thought behind it. I can't believe that someone like Spiner would get involved with this drivel. If you are bent on having your intelligence insulted, there are many other titles out there that do the job just as well without you having to watch over-his-prime-again-Travolta. Please don't pay money for this pamphlet.
The Cell (2000)
The worst film I've seen in about 5 years
I guess my opinion is divergent from most comments. I watched the movie without even having seen the trailer, totally blank in outlook. And boy, was I in for a surprise. I have always been weary of movies only made to indulge in a music star's feeble acting forays. And this movie managed to turn out to be the best example yet. The plot was laughable cliche, the dialogues were pathetic, and the acting was in a league of its own - unfortunately. The only reason me and my friends did not walk out of this movie, was because we wanted to see confirmed the excruciating b-movie ending. At least in that respect we were not disappointed - the ending was right on par with the rest of the movie. It's a flick best forgotten - wish I could. shiver
El tesoro de las cuatro coronas (1983)
It has its redeeming qualities
No matter how you put it, this movie was created to contain as many gimmicks as possible to exploit the 3D theme. And as such it succeeded beautifully.
I have seen this movie when I was 13, close to when it came out.
Little other movies of the 80s have made quite the same impact. No, it's not a good movie by normal standards. But Yes, this is probably the best 3D movie ever made, and as such is worth a couple of lines in someone's book.
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)
The biggest movie disappointment of the 20th century
Okay, let's face it. Judging with any cinematographic criteria, this movie should never have been put on the screens. Frankly, I personally feel insulted by George Lucas.
What bugs me it this movie will be a huge massive success only because of the name. The plot, acting and editing are abysmal. The characters are pathetic. The one-liners are laughable. The only thing that would justify this movie is the special effects, but even those I found lacking. Yoda, for instance, is less life-like than in the early 80s.(!)
And even if the effects were up to par, JarJar's annoying presence and the childish story and lines would still make this a very bad cinema experience. The rating for this movie are inflated high, I have the suspicion people have voted before they saw the movie, or just to het Star wars movies in the top 100. sigh If I never see this movie again, it will be too soon.
