Swimfan (2002)
Huh?
I saw this movie with a group of friends and immediately one of my friends and I determined that this was worth seeing just to heckle it. It's just like FEAR (with Mark Wahlberg) which, for those of you haven't seen a movie before Home Alone is just like FATAL ATTRACTION... but does anyone remember PLAY MISTY FOR ME? That remains the mother of all these kinds of passion thrillers.
Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
oh my gosh!
ROTTEN ROTTEN MOVIE!!!!!! The best part was the opening credits because they really presented John Carpenter's theme well, and the ending was great, plus the creative email thing but other than this movie was nothing but a routine slashfest! Jamie Lee Curtis has a thankless role.
The Video Dead (1987)
They're getting desperate...
When the zombies start coming OUT of the TV set you know they're desperate. But alas, this is worth watching for the laughs. There are some great zombies in this movie, but the acting is bad enough to kill any movie critic (Probably why it's not in Leonard Maltin's movie guide). It's one of those movies that makes you wonder if people are really this stupid in times of "pressure". Obviously you and I need to watch it ones or twice before we know exactly how we could kick some major zombie butt. Just chop the rotting, moaning corpses into tiny pieces. And if they are still alive use the old Return of the Living Dead trick-burn em until there's nothin' left. ENjoy this flick. A movie after Ed Wood's own heart. ***/**********
The Lion of Africa (1987)
Not bad.
Entertaining TV movie with fine performances by the two leads. Worth seeing, though more than a little derivative of THE AFRICAN QUEEN (and it also steals one of the most famous lines from CASABLANCA). **½/****
Martin (1977)
A total dud.
I was very disappointed when I saw this film about a year ago. I have always been a fan of Romero's zombie films, but it seems his other works never can live up. This is no exception. Martin is a bloody, disgusting "vampire" film that needs to be staked.
And Then There Were None (1945)
Superb!
Having read Agatha Christie's classic novel, I knew I was in for a treat with this 1945 version of the book. 10 people gathered at an isolated mansion on a tiny island are murdered one by one by a psychotic killer--- who may very well be one of them! A fine cast- Barry Fitzgerald, Walter Huston, Judith Anderson (to name a few) makes the film believable, and the witty, suspense-filled screenplay adds to the enjoyment. A must-see for mystery fans. ****
The Evil Dead (1981)
GROSS!
Despite its reputation as being a classic, influential horror film, this is just a disgusting exercise in exploitation about five college students who become demon possessed one by one in a cabin in the woods. Totally inept and sickening, this is only worth watching for fans of gory horror movies or demonic possession flicks. *

A Streetcar Named Desire (1951)
Wonderful.
Vivien Leigh gives a flawless performance as Blance Dubois in this brilliant film based on the Tennessee Williams play. Marlon Brando is also superb as Blanche's rowdy brother-in-law Stanley. Leigh, and supporting cast members Kim Hunter and Karl Malden all won Oscars. Film was remade in 1984 with Ann-Margret and in 1995 with Jessica Lange. **** See also CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF if you like Tennessee Williams' style, which stars Paul Newman in one of his finest performances.
Torchlight (1984)
slow-going...
Fairly entertaining, mostly tedious little drama about a man (Steve Railsback) who becomes addicted to cocaine. His wife (Pamela Sue Martin) attempts to help him. Martin is admittedly very good, but the movie itself is only so-so.
The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe (1979)
An excellent telling of the classic novel
This is one of the best animated films I've ever seen. C.S. Lewis' classic book comes alive with vigor and fun. I recommend this to anyone who has read books by Lewis, and especially to fans of the Chronicles of Narnia. The illistrations are exceptional and the music is very good.
The Sound of Music (1965)
Without a doubt THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE!!!!
This is the BEST MOVIE EVER MADE, and Gone With the Wind is tied with it. I grew up on this movie, and I could watch it again and still be as entertained as I was the first time. Julie Andrews and the rest of the cast is excellent. The Sound of Music is a marvel film for other directors and actors to guide themselves by.
Sins of the Past (1984)
A pretty good suspense thriller with a few twists.
You can't go wrong with a cast like this. The movie is about a group of call girls who quit the job after one of them is murdered. They all go their own directions and change their names. Alley is an actress, Cattrall a doctor, Boone a successful singer (she sings O Come All Ye Faithful-not the Christmas song, mind you) etc. Then, 15 years later, they are reunited when the killer returns. I give this one ***1/2 out of *****. Definitely worth seeing; a pretty good suspense thriller with a few plot twists.

Deadly Lessons (1983)
not bad slasher flick.
Not bad "slasher" Movie with a great cast. It's about a psychopath who stalks an exclusive girls' school headed by Donna Reed. Among the ill-fated students are Diane Franklin (Better off Dead), Ally Sheedy (The Breakfast Club, Maid to Order), and Renee Jones (Friday the 13th Part 6). Larry Wilcox plays the cop hot on the murderer's trail, whoever he may be.
