Around the World Under the Sea (1966)
If you are a fan of "diverting natural disaster" films you will enjoy this one.
Enhanced by beautiful underwater cinematography complements of Clifford Pollard Lloyd Bridges gave a spectacular performance recapturing my fond memories of "Sea Hunt". I seem to be giving this film the only positive comments however, I really did enjoy the adventure, suspense, and even the somewhat "campy" personal interaction between the characters. Also, excellent performances by David McCallum and Brian Kelly whom I remember very fondly from "Man from Uncle" and "Flipper". I found the plot as plausible as other "diverting natural disaster" type films both present and past. As the film begins, increased seismic activity throughout the world is threatening to produce more frequent and stronger earthquakes. Lloyd Bridges and his well trained crew scientists and experts in their own fields borrow a submarine from the military to place sensors in the ocean for early worldwide earthquake detection. Going along for the ride with the 4 men and 1 woman crew were 2 scientific experimental guinea pigs. Disaster threatens the mission a couple of times when a giant sea inhabitant becomes entangled in the sub after trying to eat one of the crew. Also, an underwater volcano erupts burying half of the sub in molten lava. However, quick thinking and fast action from our heroes bring a happy ending to the story. If you are a fan of "diverting natural disaster" films you will enjoy this one however you need to catch it on TV because there is no DVD available and VHS is very limited.
Long Time Dead (2002)
Spooky stuff happens when a group of college students gets their hands on a homemade Oujia Board and conjures up a homicidal demon
I recently saw this movie on cable TV. As I was reading the synopsis, I thought maybe this will be interesting but probably it will be a Class B or C horror flick. After the first 15 min. I almost changed the station. After 20 min. it began to pick up. Then, after about 30 min. it took off and turned out to be one of the scariest movies I have ever seen. After an hour I was on the edge of my seat to the end. Lukas Haas is the only name actor in a mostly British cast - however, the acting was superb! I have watched other horror films with well know actors who did not display the talent and skills of this group. There is a great story line about friends who stick together mixed in with the supernatural, blood, and gore. Long Time Dead was suspenseful, scary, and the ending will catch you off guard. If you are a fan of good horror flicks - this is a keeper!!
Time Changer (2002)
Wow! A movie for the times!
I was flicking through the TV guide and thought this movie looked interesting. Was in for the surprise of my life!! I never thought in this day and age I would ever see such an insightful movie! The truth of the Bible and Jesus Christ as it should be presented is most unusual on TV today. This was the type of movie I would have expected to see 40 or 50 years ago. Jesus Christ presented as He should be presented - our Lord and Savior who was sent to earth by God the Father to die for our sins so we may spend eternity in Heaven. The Bible was presented in true form. It was a most pleasant find and I hope many saw this insightful presentation. The acting was superior which could only lead me to believe the actors presented their true views.
