An excellent film, Cabaret Balkan shows that when a society's rulers are corrupt and self-serving, everyday morality under them is virtually impossible.

A work of black genius.

People criticise action films for not backing up the fireworks and explosions with a story. The same applies for this drivel, lots of sweeping aerial shots of the north of England are let down by a slow storyline, where the characters' actions are rarely explained. A waste of talent and time.

Extra points deducted for showing pasty-faced Northerners line-dancing. Oh, the horror.

This movie is bland with a capital B. The plot is utterly predictable and the jokes are poor.

Temuera Morrison must be desperate for a break in Hollywood to play the head pirate who chases the characters played by Harrison Ford and Anne Heche.

Ford and Heche are pretty unremarkable, but the real dud actor is David Schwimmer. He performance is guaranteed to have you looking furtively at your watch hoping it will end soon. Stick to bad TV Dave, you make even worse films.

The gripping Erskineville Kings is a great film. One brother returns to Sydney after a long absence in the country. He's there for his abusive father's funeral. Big bro is not happy about his prolonged absence, having been left looking after Dad in his final years. The fact their mother fled her unhappy marriage years ago makes the absence even more painful.

The film is set on a hot summer day, and, like typical Australian males, the boys head off with a few mates to the pub. After all, alcohol is needed to make these guys open up. The beer, the sticky heat and the awkward reunion makes for an explosive mix.

The film is as tense as The Boys, but the characters are more rounded than David Wenham's thoroughly evil Brett Sprague.

This is a film about men and their problems, so the film's sole female lead is a little under-developed.

A great effort. Hugh Jackman is incredible.
