Philly D.A. (2021)
Disgusting
Unlike the other people reviewing this nonsensical puff piece about Krasner, I actually live in the hell hole of Philadelphia and completely understand what he's done here. Let me be perfectly clear, the man is absolutely hated in this city. We set a record for homicides last year and are on pace to break it this year already. This has nothing to do with Donald Trump and everything to do with Krasner and his "progressive" policies. Don't waste your time with this show, just look at the stats.
Sora no daikaijû Radon (1956)
Another Toho classic
"Sora No Daikaiju Radon" is the story of two giant pterodactyls who wake from their long slumber underground to terrorize Japan. It actually starts out as a mystery involving 10 foot long caterpillars who snack on some coal miners, but they turn out to be food for the two "Rodans". We then have the typical destruction of Japanese cities before a moving finale.
Kaijû sôshingeki (1968)
One of Toho's best
This film is probably the high point of Toho's Godzilla series. Calling it a Godzilla movie does not do it justice however since just about every Japanese monster that you can think of appears in this one. The plot is nothing that we have not seen before, (aliens attempt to take over the planet by using Earth's monsters against it), but that isn't important just sit back and enjoy the destruction! It also contains one of Akira Ifukube's greatest scores and is Toho's last high quality Kaiju film until the Godzilla Heisei series.
Kaijû daisensô (1965)
Classic Godzilla
This is my favorite Godzilla film. It was made during a time when the series was given a decent budget and respect by it's makers. It looks beautiful in widescreen and the chemistry between Akira Takarada, Kumi Mizuno, and Nick Adams is outstanding. The original Japanese version is superior of course, but the dubbed version is better than most of the other dubbed Godzilla films.
Mallrats (1995)
Awful
I honestly can't understand how this horrible movie has such a high rating on IMDB. It's not funny at all. It's vastly inferior to Clerks and why do we need Jay and Silent Bob in every film? They were amusing for a while but now they just get on my nerves.
Hiroshima (1995)
A quality film
Hiroshima is a great film, originally made for cable, about events leading up to the A-bomb being dropped on Japan. It shows the Japanese perspective very well and is one of the better WW2 films of recent years. Surprisingly, it is mostly a Canadian production that is very accurate with the facts they put on screen. Very well done.
The Brides of Dracula (1960)
Hammer's Best
This film gets my vote as Hammer's best. Wonderfully atmospheric, I remember seeing it countless times on Saturday afternoons many years ago. It may not have Lee in it but that may not be such a bad thing. Peter Cushing is fantastic(as usual)as Van Helsing and David Peel makes up for the absence of Lee with a great performance as the Baron Meinster. Hammer's Dracula series started to go downhill after this one and I believe that it is slightly better than Horror of Dracula.
The Thing from Another World (1951)
Wonderful Film
This movie used to really scare me as a child but now as an adult I can see how well written, directed, and acted this film is. Part horror, part Sci-fi and with great atmosphere it has become one of my all time favorites. Love those opening titles!
Midway (1976)
Average at best
I loved this movie as a child but after seeing it for the first time as an adult I have to sat it is almost unwatchable. I am fortunate to be familiar with the battle of Midway and it's a good thing that I am because otherwise I would have been totally confused by the terrible editing of the film. It is also hard to take the movie seriously when they use aircraft carriers that were clearly from the post WW2 era. The love story doesn't help matters either. Watch a good documentary on the History Channel instead.
The Sixth Sense (1999)
Pretty good film, but no real surprises. SPOILER!!!!
I thought that all of the actors involved did a pretty good job in this movie but I am astonished at how many people were surprised by the ending of this movie. After seeing how the other players in the film react, or don't react to Bruce willis after he is shot, it becomes obvious to anybody who is familiar with the old Twilight Zone series or the movie Carnival of Souls that he is in fact, dead. It really hurt my enjoyment of the film and I found my self wishing it would end quickly.
King Kong vs. Godzilla (1963)
The ending is exactly the same in BOTH versions
The myth that this movie's ending was changed by American distributors is completely untrue. I have both versions of the film and the American one is certainly edited badly but the ending is the same. If you are a fan of Godzilla then do your self a favor and get the Japanese versions of all of these films.
