Laugh out loud funny, outrageous and entertaining!
17 October 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is a must-see! I have no idea why it has such a low rating right now on the IMDb...obviously people have not seen the movie and are rating it based on its name or the actors whom they may not recognise. Tyler Perry has outdone himself in this movie. It is refreshing to see him play another role besides Madea and still entertain the audience. This movie has comedy and drama and although it may not have lessons adults shouldn't already know, it presents them in a way to show adults how stubborn they can be even when they know what is the right thing to do. It proves to us we do know the answers to our problems, but the fact is, we are most times too proud to do what we should do in the face of those problems. Why Did I Get Married? is not just for married couples or even dating couples, anyone can benefit from the lessons in this hilarious yet touching story of 4 couples who have a range of problems in their marital life. Among the actresses, I am only familiar with Janet Jackson and Jill Scott (as a singer) but I was very impressed with all their performances. They are amazingly talented. The actors who played the husbands are also brilliant in their roles. And Lamman Rucker is very delicious! Tyler Perry makes a good husband...it was especially nice to see him outside the role of Madea for an entire movie. I have only seen him in his Madea movies so far. Having seen this, though I am going to make a more conscious effort to watch Daddy's Little Girls and his other movies that I have not seen. Tyler Perry is brilliant. The role of Madea may have brought him to the forefront, but movies like this one will be the ones to secure his career for years and years to come. I will definitely be purchasing this on DVD when it comes out.

Silk Stalkings (1991–1999)
9/10
highest rated original series
14 June 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Silk was the highest rated original series on USA when it ran for 8 seasons...because it really was a great show. The stars made the show what it was, of course, because in spite of the creators trying to lay the T&A (aka nudity) on thick, the real attraction was the awesome chemistry between actors Rob Estes and Mitzi Kapture for the first 4.5 seasons. Chris and Rita were the subject of many a "ship" till they finally fell into each others arms. However it wasn't just about romance with this pair, they were the best of friends and the special relationship they had always became part and parcel of the roles and the plot and enhanced the story lines perfectly. There were also some very intriguing characters (Guest stars) who lent support to the leads as well as the comic twists and turns that made the show very likable and entertaining. I own all 4 seasons on DVD mainly because of Chris and Rita (Rob and Mitzi) but every time I watch I am reminded there was always more to love in this show...nudity aside.

Destined to be a classic
16 October 2003
If you like gratuitous sex and violence, which seems to be the order of the day for most movies these days, then this film is not for you. If you do like upbeat humour, a subtle love story and the wonderful magical pairing of Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock then you're going to love this one. Marc Lawrence did not write a perfect script but he got a perfect pair in these two fine actors who make this movie fly with their excellent portrayals. I own the dvd and never tire of watching it. It has laugh out loud moments and cute one-liners. (It also has Norah Jones singing the best part of the song "The Nearness of You" but that's beside the point.) The action is quick moving and almost whirlwind: before you know it, Lucy has been hired and wants to quit. The movie portrays a very likely situation but adds a nice fantasy touch to it without being too over-the-top. It has a happy ending too, all the classic ones do! I watched this because I can't resist watching Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock but I own it now because they were that good! Kudos to them for choosing to make such a great "everybody can watch" film when there are much more raunchy and risque choices out there.

It really wasn't that bad!!!!
4 August 2003
Come on people!!! I know that this wasn't the best film ever but please it could have been so much worse. I thought that all the actors in the film fit the characters and the mood of the film perfectly.

You can't seriously expect to go into a SUMMER ACTION movie expecting to see Shakespearian type performances. For me the movie was a good 1 hour and 40 minutes or so of fun. Sure some of the lines were corny and some scenes unbelievable but the whole point of an action movie is simply to entertain not evoke lengthy book club-like discussions.

What ever happened to just going to a movie and enjoying it for enjoying it sake!! If you liked it you maybe went back to see it again or recommended it to a friend. If not, you go see another movie and MOVED ON!!!!

I liked 2Fast 2Furious because I did find it a truly entertaining way to spend my Saturday afternoon without having to leave the cinema in tears, scared or batting a headache trying to decipher the plot long after the movie is over.

Those of you who think this movie is crap obviously hasn't seen Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. Trust me after that 2Fast 2Furious is not bad at all!!!!

Mary Poppins (1964)
10/10
supercalifragilistically awesome!
3 July 2003
Mary Poppins is magnificent, and Julie Andrews is awesome in this role. She steals the show in my opinion although the rest of the cast are quite delightful to watch. The plot is superb even if it is classic Disney fare, magic and all. The scenery is spectacular and the music is wonderfully orchestrated and performed. It's wonderful to watch over and over.

Fun, fun, fun!
28 April 2003
Being bored was not allowed in this movie! Julie Andrews was brilliant as always! The lovable newcomer Sofia Vassilieva was also a delight to watch. Awesome entertaining action from start to finish. The plot line was refreshing even if there were some 'clichéd' moments. All in all a wonderful family movie. Kids, teens and adults will love it because there is something in it for everyone. Although there was something about the end that made you feel it shouldn't have ended there--maybe it's the hook for the sequel. Well, I'm hooked!

A stunning tribute, entertaining and memorable!
29 December 2000
Mariah and others are at their "divalicious" best in the most recent of the VH1 'Divas' concert series! It's a thrill ride from start to finish with awesome performances by the divas. Mariah was in fine form as usual, delivering a intense heart-stopping performance each time she came on stage. Destiny's Child lived up to their hype cementing their places in divadom. Diana showed us why she was the show's honoree and Donna retained her near-legend status. The most memorable part for me was seeing Diana and Mariah take the stage together to sing a few Supremes favorites...it was absolutely delightful! Divas 2000 continued the tradition of excellence we've come to expect from VH1's Divas productions. You'll never tire of watching the Divas perform, and for such a worthy cause this is one must-own video.

Air Force One (1997)
10/10
It's about the plane, the president, and the passion of his dedication to family and country.
16 May 2000
Air Force One is a striking example of what is good, true and noble in the governance of the United States, and the antithesis of the idealism it holds. Harrison Ford is commanding even when apparently subject to abuse at the hands of the terrorists. An excellent supporting cast takes this movie into the realm of the great ones. It is beautiful in it's idealism and yet punishing in it's realism.
