A Day Without a Mexican (2004)
Makes 'Soul Plane' look good.
I made the unfortunate decision this evening to spend $7 of my orange-picking money on this heinous, poorly produced Mexican rights ad masquarading as a mockumentary. The message is: "Whites depend on Mexicans for their subserviance and cheap labor. Without Mexicans, everything would go down the drains." This is a fundamentally narrow-minded and somewhat racist film that fails to entertain or provide any meaningful message. Instead, we get poor structure, amateur acting and inept direction. I walked out of this film and wandered into "Soul Plane." I believe this to be the greatest decision any human has ever made, with the possible exception of my mother's decision not to abort me. Thank you and buenas noches -
An intelligent Mexican.
Bobby G. Can't Swim (1999)
Interesting look at life on the streets in NY
I recently saw this film at the Minneapolis/St.Paul international film festival and I liked it quite a bit. Basically, Bobby G. is a street level coke dealer who gets in a load of trouble when he tries to sell a kilogram to some stupid suburban kids. It was interestingly shot, it kept my attention the whole way through, and I really enjoyed watching it, so I recommend seeing it if it comes to your town.
