Third Person (2013)
Exactly Y critics are useless& unfair! Wow!
This movie is the very reason that we do not need professional critics. They can and do make or break a movie based on "One man's opinion". Paul Haggis who won Academy Award for Crash is responsible for this movie. I would bet that nearly every critic did not take the time to understand this movie. It is spectacular! Wow! I won't say anything about this movie because it would ruin your experience. I see 75 movies a year. I do not ever read a review. Critics are to biased and want to much. I want to be entertained for 2 hours that is all I ask. This is a thinking person's independent movie. Every person in this film is great and I believe they did this movie for minimum dollars because of Paul Haggis. Liam Neelson, Mila Kunis,Adrien Brody, Olivia Wilde, Maria Bello are each terrific. Even the few no name people were terrific. I consider this one of my favorite movies of the year. It is only playing in small Art Theatres. If it is available in your city don't miss it. Kudos to everyone affiliated with this movie.
August: Osage County (2013)
How can Meryl and Julia get better
I have seen every movie ever made by Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts. It is impossible for surprises yet their performances in Osage brings them both to a higher level. Everyone in this cast is nothing short of spectacular. That is because each actor in the movie gets their own scene and not one disappoints. Meryl Streep is beyond beyond spectacular as she makes acting look so very natural to her. Julia Roberts takes her acting to a new level, we have seen less of her as she raises her family. But make no mistake she is better then ever. Academy Award nominations should come for virtually every member of the cast. . Margo Martindale,Juliet Lewis,Julianne Nicholson, Sam Shepard, Ewan McGregor and anyone I might have missed. One of the years best picture.
Intouchables (2011)
One of the best movies ever seen in 50 yrs
This is one of the best movies we have ever seen. My wife and I see 3 movies a week on average over The past 40 years. Saying it is one of the best is quite a statement. Horrible Bosses (2011)

Jenifer Aniston foul mouthed unusual but funny as in My p***t F*** me etc. Kevin Spacey hysterical Extremely funny raunchy cursing screa ming Hysterical. Too he'll with critics. If you loved Hangover, Bridesmaids you will love this one. Plot line very funny each has a Horrible boss and so they want to get rid of Them. Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx as M fer jones are fantastic and add just The right touch to this outrageous movie. Perfect reason why we don't need critics One person opinion. If you funny, toilet Humor this is for you. Prim and proper Stay home.
The Dilemma (2011)
Never fail to be entertained by Vince Vaughan and Kevin James
My wife and I see over 100 movies a year, having been in the business and now retired. WE DO NOT READ ANY REVIEWS BY ANYONE. WE TRY TO TELL OUR FRIENDS THAT A CRITIC IS ONE PERSON, HE OR SHE IS NOT US. Critics are also a dying breed as newspapers disappear.
Therefore, our critique is not biased and based on actually seeing the movie in a theatre. Many critics see the movies 5 at a time in a viewing room. Not a real atmosphere to gauge audience reaction. How can you review a movie without the real deal? Another screw the critics movie. It is extremely funny and dark at times but Vaughan and James and the ladies Wyona Rider and Jennifer Connelly make a wonderful evening out. We enjoyed it, a great way to spend two hours and so screw the fake critics.
True Grit (2010)
True Academy Awards....Jeff Bridges, Hailee Steinfeld

How can you review a movie without the real deal? What a terrific movie. Jeff Bridges is at is usual top of the game fantastic. He is one of our best and yet unrecognized actors for about 35 years.
Contrast Jeff with Hailee Steinfeld, 14 yrs old never acted before, this girl is super fantastic in this movie. She will be a superstar. Her poise is that of a 20+ years in the business actress.
She simply blew us away with her acting. Academy Award consideration for the movie and the stars.
The King's Speech (2010)
Chemistry between two of the finest actors on earth spectacular

Therefore, our critique is not biased and based on actually seeing the movie in a theatre. Many critics see the movies 5 at a time in a viewing room. Not a real atmosphere to gauge audience reaction. How can you review a movie without the real deal? Geoffrey Rush is the top actor of our generation with only Daniel Day Lewis as a compliment. The man is superb and Colin Firth is equal to the task. The chemistry between the two is poignant, funny, agonizing and it results in another Academy Award movie and nominations for both.
What a positive joy to see this movie with such great actors. Helena Bonham Carter is also her usual fantastic, she is just a fine fine actress. Kudo's to whomever put these guys together. Firth has made quite a few films, but not that approach this one.
Enjoy.

Natalie Portman is on screen for 99.9% of the time and that just isn't enough for this sensational actress. Her star has finally reached the top. The movie is great and she is Oscar shoe in.
don't miss it. It lives up to all the pre hype. Wow! Little miss Long Island, Harvard graduate. Delicious.

A great movie with all three stars giving Academy Award performances Amy Adams,Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale. One of the best fight films we have ever seen.
Amy Adams does her usual fabulous job in still another type of roll. Wahlberg has become a terrific actor and director and Christan Bale steals the movie with his great acting. Don't miss it.
Love & Other Drugs (2010)
Anne Hathaway continues to grow as terrific actress. Jake not too bad either.

How can you review a movie without the real deal? Love&Other Drugs is a very poignant movie which is sexy, funny and very sad as well. Anne Hathaway continues to grow as an actress in the role of a 26 yr old with Parkinson's disease.
She plays the role simply fantastic. Lots of nudity, which we loved.
Jake Gyllenhaal is likewise a wonderful actor who continues to grow in whatever he does.
Both of these young actors are destined for Academy Awards very soon.
Don't listen to critics on this one. It is well worth seeing.
The Town (2010)

Eat Pray Love (2010)
Academy Awards.... many.......

How can you review a movie without the real deal? This movie has been hyped beyond beyond and it lives up to everything and more. It is simply spectacular and we believe it should get many Academy Award. From Director Ryan to the delicious, gorgeous, professional Julia Roberts, to Javier Bardem and the sensational Richard Jenkins.
The scenery across three countries is breathtaking, the true story in great. Eating in Italy reminds us of our many visits to Rome and Napoli This is in our minds the best movie of the year.
The Kids Are All Right (2010)
Academy Award worthy!
We loved this movie. Everything about it was new and fresh. Writer Director Lisa Cholodenko did a super Academy Award consideration job.
Julianne Moore and Anette Bening were simply spectacular and they too are worthy of Oscar consideration. They were great together and apart.
Mark Ruffalo is a such a good actor as well,we would like to see more of him.
A pure delightful movie, unlike any you have seen before. You do not see too many movies with actresses over 40. These women are wonderful in their roles as Lesbian mothers. I wish the damn state of Florida where we live would allow gay people to adopt or even have a baby. It is cruel to continue what is now an ancient law.
Republicans need to wake up to 2010
Mother and Child (2009)
Academy Award acting Annette Beining,Naomi Watts,Sam Jackson

This small movie MOTHER AND CHILD is simply wonderful. We are parents of two adopted children and a biological child and grandparents of two adopted children and one biological child as well. It is a riveting story of three families having to do with Adoption. Annette Bening and Namoi Watts as well as Samuel Jackson give Academy Award performances.
Lots of cameo appearances by other stars. Movie must have been made by a small production company with connections. It is wonderful poignant and everything you would want in a feel good movie with some sadness intertwined.. Go and see it based on us, we are real people in the real world.
Killers (2010)
100% crazy fun! Hysterically funny. Heigl/Kutcher chemistry

This movie is just deliciously funny. It is not an Academy Award movie it is just plain fun from start to finish. All we want is 2 hrs of getting away from the real world. That is the sole purpose of a movie. Keep your attention and have fun where possible. It is full of silly, dumb things but it will leave you breathless from laughing so much. The chemistry between Heigl and Kutcher is fantastic.
Go and see it based on us, we are real people in the real world.
The Ugly Truth (2009)
Wow! Spectacular and nothing like trailer
Wow! A huge fantastic surprise not at all like trailers. R rated for language and sexual situations. Another Superbad Knocked Up. Hilarious from start to finish. Audience loved it. Heigl is adorable, beautiful, sexy and damn funny. Gerard Butler is also terrific. This is not the expected Romantic Chick Flick. The guys will love it even mote than the ladies. It is so so funny. Word of mouth should push this movie way over $100 million mark. Quite frankly both my wife and I were not thrilled with Heigl before we saw this for her whiny pissy year on Grey's. This movie brought us back into her corner she is a fantastic actress and will be successful for years. You will love the scene that is so funny and brings to mind Meg Ryan's great scene in Harry meets Sally. So get ready for no holds barred. Sex talk, words u will laugh at and those who are prudish. Don't go! Can you tell we loved it
Every Little Step (2008)
Simply Spectacular if you love A Chorus Line as much as we do
We have seen A Chorus Line 6 times over the past 34 years since it opened in 1975. We saw the original cast in 1975 and then again in London and in Florida.
It is our favorite show of all time and this documentary of how someone gets to Broadway via audition after audition including the disappointments is the essence of A Chorus Line. Including reel to reel audio tapes of Michael Bennett as he created the show were fantastic as was following the current set up of the revival. Marvin Hamlisch was there to tell us about his writing the entire score for the show.
We were pleasantly surprised to see the theatre full to capacity on a Sunday afternoon in hot Florida.
It brought back so many memories and the music is still among the very best ever written for Broadway. Every single song in the show is memorable and many were singing along as they did them.
We recommend it highly when and if it comes to your city. If not, the DVD I am sure will be available in a few months.
Wow! Thank you Michael Bennett, he would have been very proud of this touching tribute to him and his friends.
Street Kings (2008)
This movie is another reason why CRITICS are being fired! It is everything you would want in entertainment.
We start all of our reviews with the following information. My wife and I have seen nearly 100 movies per year for the past 15 years. Recently, we were honored by receiving lifetime movie passes to any movie any time at no cost! So we can see whatever we want whenever we want. The point of this is that CRITICS count for ZERO. Your local critics or the national critics like Ebert are really no different than you or me. The only difference is that they get to write about the movie and are forced to see hundreds of movies whether they want to or not. Therefore, it is our belief that if you get your monies worth for two hours of enjoyment that is good enough for us! We NEVER EVER listen or read the critics. We only care about our friends and those who we know like the same things as us. Well enough about that.
This movie is another example of why critics all over the US are being fired. They have to much control. Infrequent movie goers rely on these dumb reviews. It is simply ONE person's opinion and in most cases it is someone who has a bias of some sort. We went to see this movie and the theatre was empty. Mainly because the critics killed it.
We loved the movie it was exciting, unpredictable and a superb performance by Keanu Reeves and Forest Whitaker. What more can anyon want in entertainment. It was certainly worth the two hours and it was not predictable something that is missing from most movies.
Too hell with the critics, fire them all. People on this site and others like it are the real movie goers and our opinions are worth much more collectively then the local idiot in your city. In our case we are happy that the local people have been fired and they are using nationally syndicated reviewers. Only a bit better than the independent guys. Enjoy it.
Smart People (2008)
Ellen Page superstar in the making! Entire cast spectacular

Wow! What a cast. Ellen Page is simply wonderful and is surely headed for superstardom in this very down down movie about a group of people who are just not happy and can't seem to find their way. A few great laughs and moments in an otherwise dreary movie.
The cast is simply fantastic from Ellen to Sarah Jessica Parker to Quaid to the very underrated but great actor Thomas Haden Church.
Page just blows us away and she is not yet 20! We believe this movie was made even before her academy award nomination for Juno.
A must see for those who love the movies.
We give it a 10 based specifically on the acting, not the movie!
The Other Boleyn Girl (2008)
How can you go wrong with Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johannson and Eric Bana! WoW
We start all of our reviews with the following information. My wife and I have seen nearly 100 movies per year for the past 15 years. We loved the movie and thought that Natalie Portman was outstanding and Oscar worthy again. Scarlett did a great job and Eric Bana was equal to the task. The costuming and this period piece was simply beautiful with the story and plot line very very interesting. It is nice to see a movie that is a wonder to the eyes without theatrical effects. We recommend it to everyone.
Untraceable (2008)
Diane Lane is all you have to say. Critics are morons. This is a must see movie

This is our 6th movie of the year. Diane Lane is just perfect as usual. She is one of our treasured actors. In this movie she does it all with her acting. No makeup needed, no sex, just a fantastic exciting nail biting movie. We love her and everything she does including being married to Josh Brolin and having James Brolin and Barbra Streisand as her in laws. She has been a great actressess since she was what 6? A wonderful nearly two hours of pure excitement and a bit frightening. We loved it and love Diane. The supporting cast was equal to the task.
The Bucket List (2007)

Wow! Absolutely a dream come true. The best in the business all in one film that is of course very sad at times but screaming funny the rest of the way. Jack is Jack, simply outstanding and and Morgan is equally spectacular. His voice is unparalled and his actoring simply brilliant. Add a dash of Rob Reiner and it is the best movie of the 4 we have seen thus far in 2008. Don't miss it! It will have you crying and roaring with laughter and give you lots to think about.
Kudos to all. Oh and Sean Hayes is terrific as Jack's helper.
The Savages (2007)
This is supposed to be an outstanding COMEDY??? Unbelievably sad and depressing
We start all of our reviews with the following information. My wife and I have seen nearly 100 movies per year for the past 15 years. Man have the critics lost their minds? We love Hoffman and Linney and every movie that they have made. This was perhaps the most disappointing movie of the year based on what CRITICS have said. This is certainly not a comedy. It is a very cruel, depressing look at a dysfunctional family and the process of dementia and dying.
Where the hell is the humor? How in the hell could critics say that Hoffman has a chance at an award for best comedy?? An absolutely travesty.
Juno (2007)
Our first movie of 2008! Ellen Page a dynamo and of course we love Jennifer Garner
We start all of our reviews with the following information. My wife and I have seen nearly 100 movies per year for the past 15 years. Wow a wonderful movie. Just plain fun with this movie written by a complete unknown stripper, soon to be a very wealthy writer.
Ellen Page simply Oscar worthy performance and the gorgeous Jennifer Garner in a supporting role. Jason Bateman was OK and the kid from Superbad and knocked up Michael Cera was equal to the task.
Simply asurd but don't miss it. We loved it. Happy New Year
The Great Debaters (2007)
Wow! Academy Award material for everything in this movie!
Simply spectacular movie with every single cast member worthy of an Oscar. Be it Denzel Washington to Forest Whitaker to the entire debating team of fine young actors. Each is worthy of an Academy Award nomination. The Movie was well directed by Denzel. This period piece set in the 1930's had great costume and set designs that were done very very well. I would expect great things from this movie for all of the new young people and another notch in his belt for Denzel and more appreciation for Forest Whitaker. Don't miss it. Kids over 8 yrs old will also enjoy it. We have seen 71 movies this year and consider this to be one of the best. It surely is among our top 5 for 2007.
