Face of Evil (1996 TV Movie)
Creepy indeed.

Tracey Gold plays a what I can only term a "psycho", who seems to kill anyone that can help her get ahead. This is creepy stuff and no doubt benefits from the skills of director Mary Lambert. Tracey Gold plays a what I can only term a "psycho", who seems to kill anyone that can help her get ahead. This is creepy stuff and no doubt benefits from the skills of director Mary Lambert. Gold does some pretty scary stuff (but seems to be still suffering the effects of anorexia, as she's mighty thin in this) and is very effective and Shawnee Smith plays her roommate who's cottoned on to her plans. The ending is quite climactic for a telemovie thriller, however the very end piece (before the credits) is mighty lame, I mean would you let someone accused of at least three murders, be led away in a police car with one driver?? Despite this, it's worth watching for the beautiful location shots (the cinematography is good too), and Gold's performance.

Really quite dull.

Well I'm certainly alone in my opinion here. I was looking forward to this film on TV, sadly it was really quite boring, there were few laughs (and I am Australian so it's not like I didn't get it) and the low budget REALLY shows. It was like My Best Friend's Wedding, it was alright, but at the end of it, is was like, "What's next?" It's certainly not a movie I'd want to see again, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't that good either.

Eerie, Indiana (1991–1992)
Impressive

I saw one episode this morning and was very impressed. I always enjoyed Who's Afraid of the Dark and the like (though Goosebumps was a little ordinary) and it's Outer Limits, X Files type storyline is very good for a kids show (and I'm 23).

Race the Sun (1996)
Enjoyable but dubious Australian accents.

The worst thing about this movie is the accent the American producers obviously thought Robert Hughes needed in his role as a journalist, I have NEVER heard an Australian accent like this ever. It's cringey, and cliched but an okay film. Think Cool Runnings in the Outback.

Deadly Web (1996 TV Movie)
Telemovie thriller is OK.

This made for TV thriller (probably made in the wake of the success of The Net) is a play by the numbers affair, but is pretty reasonable, Gigi Rice in the lead role is likeable if a little slow to realize who's stalking her in the office. There's the obligatory red herring stalker, and a quick climactic ending. Of course the "interfaces" used for the net are ridiculous as always, using programs you've never seen before. And one word of warning, the set designer should be shot for such an UGLY house. The entire living room and kitchen are BROWN!! The seventies finished years ago!!!

Deep Red (1975)
DULL, DULL, DULL!!
5 March 2000
Having seen the longest possible version of this film, I have no idea why people say if you want to see this, see the long version. Why? It's SO boring, it plods along, not making a lot of sense, until the conclusion. Maybe the shorter versions actually make sense!! The subplot of the house with the walled-in room doesn't make ANY sense, but WORST of all the murders that happen at the beginning (during the titles) and at the end, don't match up continuity wise, making for a glaring error in that they are the SAME murder, or at least meant to be! And it's not even boring to the point that you can laugh at it, at least the REALLY bad American slasher films of the 1980s could make me laugh. There's a fare amount of gore, but the film neither thrills NOR chills. The only redeeming feature is that it does have a FANTASTIC soundtrack, one of the best I've heard in a horror film. Buy that instead!
