Memphis Belle (1990)
B-24s
27 April 2006
It's time for an accurate version of the 'Lady Be Good' story. This was the B-24 that was lost for years in the Libyan Desert, after a run to Italy. It's a great human endurance story as well. Years ago, some cheesy versions were made for TV, including a Twilight Zone, but always using B-25s. The story should be told in flashback, from the moment, in 1960, when a BP oil crew stumbled upon the wreckage--looking as if it landed that day. It had been buried under sand since 1943. Eventually, all but one crewman's body was found. Some had bailed out earlier, others rode it in for a flat landing. But they all went in small groups--in different directions, leaving parachute strips as markers for rescuers that never came. They had overshot their airbase by over 400 miles!

good sci-fi

This may be THE sleeper sci-fi film of the 50s. Very imaginative story--plausible & with adult storytelling/writing. Loggia was great. I did find a VHS copy on ebay a few years ago and the story held up very well! And that alien missile looks like it was designed by Giger! ("Alien")

Impossible to forget
6 September 2003
A 225 mph super-hurricane--a stone that froze ancient, terrified voices from Pompeii--the odd new neighbors from next door who vanished one night during an electrical storm!---What an impact these stories had on a 9 yr. old kid! I never forgot them. What a blast to be able to see these shows again. Thank you, Mr. Bradley for making them resonate for all these years!

And what thought-provoking titles, too! And then of course, there was that theme music---!!
