Terrific
18 April 2001
Crimes of Passion is easily Ken Russell's best film. Its also one of the best films of the 80s, they dont make them like they use to!!! Crimes of Passion centres around Joanne (Kathleen Turner) who is a fashion designer by day and a kinky hooker by night who speciality is role play! She becomes the object of affection by a love sick client (John Laughlin) and an object of obssession by a deranged priest (Aanthony Perkins). This film is a trash classic. Its campy dialogue also makes for a bit of comedy! Kathleen Turner is great in her role and Anthony Perkins once more convincing as a psychopath. Its interesting how at times this film sounds and has a feel of a stage show which surprisingly works well. Its also interesting to see Louise Sorrel, who plays Vivian Alamein in Days of our Lives as one of Turner's clients! Dont miss out on this classic!

Chained Heat (1983)
AN ABSOLUTE CLASSIC
18 April 2001
Chained Heat is an absolute classic. I can watch it over and over agin and never get sick of it. Its a pure trash classic. It centres around Carol (Linda Blair) who is an innocent thrown into a sleazy prison run by two adversaries Bachman (John Vernon) and Taylor (Stella Stevens). Its a heavily corrupt prison with two main gangs one headed by Erica (Sybil Dannning) and one by Duchess (Lousia Moritz), and with drugs, fights, lesbianism and murder thrown into the mix u know u r in for a good movie. Honestly the acting is hopeless, but who cares? you are not watching this film like an oscar voter, enjoy it

By the way does anyone notice how Linda Blair is constantly being raped in films? (Born Innocent, Chained Heat, Savage Island, Savage Streets, Red Heat, Silent Assassins)just to name a few!

On the Beach (2000 TV Movie)
What's the point?
10 March 2001
Will someone tell me why the US is raving about this inspid aussie TV movie? Most Australians who saw it hated it, and its a well known fact that Aussies cant make action films, we'll leave that to the americans and the europeans who make spectacular action films. On The Beach is basically about a nuclear holocaust that has destroyed most of the world except for a small part in melbourne, australia where everyone is coming to terms with their inevitable doom. I have never watched a mini series so boring, it is completely lifeless and sleep inducing. Bryan Brown and Rachel Ward sizzle? PLEASE!!!!! They couldnt sizzle up the screen to save their lives. Both Bryan Brown and Rachel Ward are hopeless in this, with laughable, feeble dialogue to match. Armand Assante who has done good work is wooden and miscast. The only decent above average actor in this is Jacqueline McKenzie, although she couldnt save it. Dont listen to the hype, On The Beach is a disaster.

A MASTERPIECE
10 February 2001
This is one of Wes Craven's best movies. Its suspensful, eerie, unpredictable and involving all at once. Its about a woman (Maren jenson) whose husband is killed in an accident, her two friends Vicky (Susan Buckner) and Lana (Sharon Stone) arrive in town and are stalked seemingly by the neigbouring religious cult led by Ernest Borgnine. I cant see why people are saying on IMDB that Sharon Stone, Lois Nettleton and Ernest Borgnine would want to bury this film. If i was in it i would be damn proud of it and would declare it to the whole world. Loook out for the scenes with Sharon Stone in the barn, with Maren Jensen in teh bathtub and the funny catfights at the end! Go rent it, you wont be disappointed!

Entertaining

Warning: Spoilers
This is a hard film to review. Its good but there is some expectation missing. Its about a girl suffering from nightmares that gets stuck in a shopping mall with her friends and stalked by an unseen killer who turns out to be the girls evil twin sister. Its not that gory but still has its moments. Interesting to see Daphne Zuniga (Melrose Place) and Hunter Tylo (The Bold and the Beautiful) in early roles. Some days i like it, some days i dont

what is this?

To All A Good Night is a very strange film indeed. My opinion of good strange are films like Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, The Hunger, Wild At Heart, Blue Velvet or Twin Peaks. Unfortunately To All A Goodnight is bad strange. Its about a group of girls that organize a party with some boys (shock horror!) and discover a psychopath dressed in santa claus garb slaughtering them one by one. The murder scenes are very unconvincing for some reason and it is very boring.

What can i say? Sleepaway Camp is excellent. It is a very creepy film that can be watched over and over again! its about a strange girl that is sent to a summer camp with her cousin by her auntie and a series of grisly murders occur. Is she the killer or not? well i wont spoil it but it has one of the greatest endings of all time. Watch it!

Excellent!
9 February 2001
The House On Sorority Row is one of my favorite slasher films of the 80's and i beleive that I Know What You Did Last Summer ripped this film off big time. Its about a group of sorority girls that accidently murder their house mother. After disposing her body they are stalked by someone who witnessed their crime. its not overtly gory but the death scenes are great and convincing, there is plenty of suspense and you are always kept hooked. It is well worth seeing for all slasher movie fans. Its also intersting to see future actors in their first roles like Harley Jane Kozak (Aracnaphobia) and especially Eileen Davidson who plays Kristen Blake Black on Days of Our Lives. See it!

Madman (1981)
Not Bad
9 February 2001
Madman doesnt live up to its great preview but its still passable. Its about a twisted farmer that killled his family and returns to slaughter teens in the wilderness. Its a bit slow at times and doesnt always capture you attention. Some good death scenes though!

What is the big deal?
12 January 2001
Why are all the horro buffs liking this wretched film? i dont get it at all. Sleepaway Camp 2 is direct to video rubbish at its worst. The acting is bad it has the feel of a Vice Academy Movie and there is absolutely no suspense in this film at all, since you know from the very beginning that Pamela Springsteen is the killer. Its unintentionally funny and the murders are pathetic. It didnt keep me hooked at all. Im sure the first one is far more superior to the second one. If u want to see some good suspensful horror films watch HALLOWEEN, FRIDAY THE 13th, THE BURNING, DEADLY BLESSING, HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW OR DEAD AND BURIED.

Possession (1981)
A Truly Dreadful Movie
12 January 2001
I hired this movie expecting a good art house/cult horror movie that would capture my attention, however i was wrong, dead wrong! There is nothing good about this movie at all. The editing is extremely bad and annoying, it is nowhere near as gory as people make it out to be, the acting is suprisingly bad especially from Sam Neil and even Isabelle Adjani who i like, it dragged on and tried to create an arty feel to it but failed miserably. The only good idea about this film was giving it an eerie political message by setting this film in east berlin before the fall of the wall. Basically avoid it.

The Best Movie Ever Made
18 December 2000
I have to say that Basic Instinct is the best movie of all time, although im sure many people will beg to differ. Its the story of a police detective investigating a rock stars murder who gets involved with the rock stars bi sexual girlfriend who may or may not be the killer. What can i say? its the erotic thriller of the centruty. Its sexy, suspensful and unpredictable. The direction is stylish, it has a good pace and many great scenes. This is a 10 out of 10 for me. Basic Instinct is a movie you can watch over and over again and never get sick of.

Days of Our Lives (1965– )
Addictive!!!
18 December 2000
Days of our Lives is criticized by many but I find it to be an addictive and interestingn show. I like the story lines for being over the top especially Marlena's devil possession. My favorite characters would be Stefano, Vivian, Ivane, Celeste, Kristen, Susan and Marlena.

One of the Worst Films OF All Time
16 December 2000
I had a bad feeling about this film, but never did i imagine a film this bad. Its too long, it drags on with endless boring scenes and it has a soppy pathetic eending that i could laugh at. Brad Pitt is terrible in it so is Clare Florani and even Anthony Hopkin's couldnt save this film. This film will put you to sleep and should be avoided at all costs!

Caligula (1979)
One Big Mess
16 December 2000
Ever since i was twelve i wanted to see this film because it was in the ADULT section of the video store and it had plenty of sex and violence. I was 15 when i finally saw it and i was very disappointed. First of all it is no where near an ADULT film at all!!!!. Its more an ART HOUSE/CULT film!!! Second of all its a huge expensive mess. While it can be visually interesting at times it is also extremely boring at times, it is no where near as violent or sexy as it is hyped up to be. What also amazed me was it should have been a great epic due to fine actors, many shakesperian actors including Malcom McDowell, Peter O'Toole, Helen Mirren and John Gielgud. The only scene i liked was the love scene between Lori Wagener and Anneki Di Lorenzo. See it anyway, just so u can say u have seen it

A Huge Disappointment
16 December 2000
I heard a lot of good things about The Story of O. I found it in the erotic thriller section of the video store and I expected some sophisticated arty erotica, however I was very disappointed.

Its the story of O, a woman who sumbits herself in the world of domination and submission. Unfortunately this film is dated, it doesn't have the ability to shock these days at all. The dubbing is very annoying, I would rather see it in french. It is very boring in places also. The idea is excellent and has a lot of potential. Maybe we should just stick to the book. I also want to stress that this isn't an ADULT FILM at all!!!!!!. I'm sick of older "erotic" films being called ADULT and pornographic. Films like Story of O, The Stud, The Bitch, Fanny Hill, Emmanuelle,Bilitis etc are EROTIC DRAMAS/ THRILLERS!!!!

So all in all The Story of O is a huge disappointement. If you want to see some high class, erotic, arty films watch The Hunger, Emmanuelle, or Basic Instinct.

Diabolique (1996)
A very suspenseful and compelling film
12 December 2000
I thought diabolique was excellent. it didnt deserve the bad reviews it got. it was unpredictable and it kept you hooked. All the actors, Sharon Stone, Isabelle Adjani, Chazz Palminteri and Kathy Bates played their parts well and created a lot of atmosphere especially Stone's bitchy and cold character and Adjani's haunting and fragile performance were excellent. If you havent seen Diabolique yet rush out and hire a copy, dont listen to the critics, its worth it.

An interesting and thought provoking thriller
12 December 2000
Year of the Gun was a thought provoking film that swept you into a political mind frame. I felt as if i was in Italy in 1978 and being taken on a tour of all of italy's troubles back then. The film is a mix of drama and suspense, it has enough of both to keep you entertained. It is fast paced with a lot of twists and turns and explores many different themes including politics, violence, love, treachery and sex. The only sour note comes from Andrew McCarthy, who doesnt have quite what it takes to be in a film like this. Valeria Golino is ok as McCarthy's italian lover and Sharon Stone, once again delivers a great performance as a photo journalist.

Scissors (1991)
Creepy and underrated
12 December 2000
Scissors is a tense psychological thriller where a disturbed woman (Sharon Stone) is trapped in an apartment by an unseen intruder in an attempt to drive her crazy. This film relied heaveily on Stone's dramatic acting and honestly she created a very believable and sympathetic character. She had to carry this film by herself basically and she pulled it off well.

Soapy and Glossy
12 December 2000
An interesting remake of the original Blood and Sand (1914) is given an erotic and soapy revamp in the remake. Its the story of a cocky young bull fighter, who on the way to the top forsakes his loving wife for a sexy siren (Sharon stone) who eventually is responsible for his downfall. Chris Rydell seems very wooden in the role of the bullfighter while Stone manages to pull off a convincing part. The bullfighting sequences are quite interesting although the film on a whole has a very soapy and glossy feel to it.
