Living with Lou (2004)
Hilarious
If you've ever been on a movie set, there is no mistaking the 1st AD -- he/she's the guy/gal driving the daily work forward like a team of oxen on speed. "Living with Lou" is a hilarious portrayal of what life would be like living with an obsessed, hyper, manic 1st AD who is out of work and has nothing better to do than drive his family crazy -- as if their daily lives were the set of his next movie.
Over the course of a few minutes, Steven Morrow clearly defines his central character, and finds unique opportunities to draw out Lou's foibles through quick, clean comedy. This is a must see short for those in the know, written and directed by a very talented young filmmaker.
Horses on Mars (2001)
A lonely microbe has been stuck on Venus for years since being separated from his friends when a meteor smashed into the surface of Mars and propelled them all into space. Hoping to reunite with his friends
Anderson's animation easily rivals that of Pixar and goes well beyond most anything I've ever seen Disney do. While some say the story is a bit too abstract, I find it a thought-provoking and refreshing change from the exaggerated characters and bumbling animals typically found in animated shorts. It's an interplanetary version of CASTAWAY! Anyone who has left the safe harbor of home and gone off to a lonely, frightening place by themselves, will readily identify with this forlorn microbe. Excellent work, Mr. Anderson!
