What happened to Senor Besson
3 October 2015
Luc Besson is the name that finally made me waste time on this. He is the guy responsible for the Taxi series and Subway, came to Hollywood with Fifth Element. He is supposed to have written and directed this abomination. Firstly the character generate no sympathy. Maybe if they had chosen a real actress not soda stream sell-out scarlett it might have helped. But the strange science lesson and the meaningless meandering CGI sequences are torture. The thinly veiled agenda, exposing evolution and dodgy science is no help. I cant recommend this to anyone. I gave it a single star to hopefully balance out the over 6 rating.

A nice twist
5 January 2014
An original take on a topic beaten to death. And recently used for political Hollywood propaganda. Well made, keeps you guessing. Characterizations are well done. No big actors but you don't feel the need. The story is simple enough nothing new but done in a refreshing style.Technically well done. Camera work is brilliant. The night shots are kept to a minimum. No big explosions or tons of gore. Just enough. No complex CG I, but wasn't needed. In the end I wouldn't mind a sequel. Unfortunately reading reviews will give away much of the surprises. I thoroughly enjoyed the screening and apparently most people did. Hope it get the necessary success. So just watch, all you horror fans.

Disappointing
30 August 2013
This movie tries really hard to be funny. I am sure the cast and crew had a lot of fun making this. Unfortunately you had to be one of them to enjoy anything. After the success of "tuker and dale" the expectations for the cast had been high. Tyler Labine's presence made me think this might be good. Its obvious him and all the actors did their jobs fine but it just didn't gel. Didn't draw a single laugh from me. Did get a few whimpers. The story is so shallow that anything I say will be considered a spoiler. In a nutshell, don't waste your time here. Rent Tucker and Dale, even Hatchet 2 has some funny stuff. I have to make up 10 lines of text for a review. So here goes, this movie is not funny. I am sorry for all the people who worked hard to make it. And I hate posting bad reviews, but this had to be said.

Keep an open mind
29 September 2012
I enjoyed it. It is unabashed entertainment. If you want reality watch something else. It is a fun movie with all kind of twists thrown in. From Aliens to time travel to mutants to just mean teens. Good cinematography and editing. It is hard to fault the movie technically. But it is a teen targeted movie, so don't expect much depth. I gave it a ten to help the rating against against all the Oscar-types who saw it and hated it. Boy-girl chemistry and social commentary are left alone for the sake of fun and fast-pacing. This goes well if you want entertainment. I hope we get more from the director, he has found a niche for sure.

Huge disappointment
2 June 2011
I give it one star because of the huge disappointment it is. Nice cast, OK story. The direction and editing is just awful. Add to it the really primitive special effects. I had a feeling I was watching a 1990's SciFi channel production. To top it wall C Thomas Howell the king of rip-off B movies has a bit role. And it has big name bad guys and the younger Busey in it. It must have had some financing, they just blew it or were forced to work on a shoe-string budget. Lesson learnt, once again, don't see a movie for the cast. And it has some good reviews here. Who wrote them? It is mind boggling how someone can like it. On the contrary it is unintentionally funny at quite a few points. Unless u have time to kill, spare yourself the aggravation of watching this.

Zombie killer, flying baby demon, high cop.
17 November 2008
It is such a strange movie, you can call it awful or if you sit with friends it can give you a killer laugh-athon. Strange comes to mind again and again. Shot amateurishly, acted even worse and the directions, maybe none. The special effects are funny but the music accompanying a flying demon baby will surely be the biggest hit. See it if you got time to kill. But don't, don't even try to take it seriously. Supposed to be a tribute to 'Porno holocaust ',. Since I haven't seen it, from the tribute I can assume it to be as bad. Should have given it 1/10, but it did give me a good laugh or two, so it gets a 3. Excessive gore, the only thing somebody worked on. Stay away if you are squeamish, more gore than laughs. Wonder if the makers had a laugh making it?

Cant see any redeeming features
26 August 2008
I was hoping to see a fusion of east and west but was disappointed. An excellent premise falls dead. Jane Austin,s timeless classic could have been put to better use. All I can say is they needed a good line-producer and a qualified editor to save the footage, or make it watchable. The movie is chaotic and unrealistic. Should have been labeled a fairy tale. As far as the mystery of India is concerned "Octopussy" did a better job. There is some beautiful scenery and nice dance numbers, but the movie doesn't stick to a single genre. Might appeal to Hindi movie fans. Cinematography is as chaotic like everything else. Large scale dance sequences are used but the grandeur gets killed by sudden extended close-ups. To avoid spoilers ( as if the fun can be spoilt further)that's all I would say.

A romance of international proportions from a cash-strapped country.
30 May 2003
A great movie considering the working conditions of the heavily over taxed and under developed movie-industry in Pakistan. The story has its usual strange twists, characteristic of love stories in this region . The production quality including the sets and sound and camera work is above par.The work of Shan, the director cum hero is worthy of any hollywood blockbuster. The co-stars also do OK. All in all a very tight production, with few loopholes. It is a pleasure to watch and beats most bollywood productions any old day. I waited for it to come out on video, so now I regret not having seen it in the theatre. Do give it a shot.

Rebirth of true Horror.
18 October 2001
A very slick, fast-paced movie, with no let-up in the tension. It has been a long time since an out and out horror movie like this came out.I'm sure now we'll be bombarded with a slew of copycat movies. The acting was superb, the sequence gripping, the visual effects just right. Being a horror buff I wasnt this satisfied after a movie since 'Event Horizon'. Rush out and see it before someone spoil the fun by giving out the details.
