Dark, disturbing family portrait
1 May 2003
This movie has been playing on the Independent Film Channel lately, and it caught my attention. Tom Everett Scott and David Moscow are very convincing as brothers caught up in an abusive family relationship. I have seen Tom Everett Scott in other movies like "That Thing You Do!" which was much more lighthearted and fun. The expressions on his face and his actions in this film made me very uneasy. As another reviewer mentioned, I have never seen a person chop as much wood as he did in this film! A good metaphor for all the rage he was feeling. Being an animal lover, I was very disturbed with what Tom's character did with the family dog. But I think it fit in with how warped his character was. The music was an undercurrent running through the film, just as the water or lake played a part as well. A creepy, dark film about dysfunctional people.

Red Shoe Diaries (1992 TV Movie)

Eye candy for women!
24 February 2003
I viewed this movie for the first time on DVD last weekend. I have watched it many times on VHS. I liked Billy Wirth's humorous comments about his role in the extras on the DVD. This movie was the basis for Zalman King's long-running series on Showtime called "Red Shoe Diaries", where David Duchovny reads letters sent to him from women who share their sexual experiences with him. This is a great movie for women to watch, more than men, because of the two hunky leads: David Duchovny and Billy Wirth. They both look gorgeous in this movie! I can understand Brigitte Bako's dilemma over who to pick as her main man in this flick because they both have something to offer. Why Mr. Duchovny has never discussed this movie or the series as part of his credits I will never understand. It may not be Shakespeare, but it is nothing to be ashamed of. On the serious side, it gives one something to think about in regards to relationships and how unstable some people are. Very entertaining, thought-provoking, and sexy. Great soundtrack too.

Unfaithful (2002)

Powerful, sexy film that showcases the brilliant Diane Lane
17 December 2002
So many people have already commented on this film, but I wanted to add my thoughts as well.

This is truly a tour de force for Diane Lane. You cannot keep your eyes off her in this movie. Her expressions are priceless, especially during the scene on the train where she is reliving her first encounter with the French lover she has been unfaithful with. She is lovely to look at, and she acts up a storm in this film. I hope she receives an Academy Award nomination for her efforts.

This film gave me a lot to think about, regarding marriage and infidelity. As the film's ending shows, there are no easy answers. Adrian Lyne did a great job directing. The cinematography is top notch also. And of course, as a woman, I loved looking at Olivier Martinez! Richard Gere has always been sexy, but his character takes a back seat to this young, hot character that his wife falls for.

It moves kind of slowly, but is sexy and suspenseful.

Sexy, erotic movie for women viewers!
13 December 2002
I saw this film in a movie theater when it first was released. A man in the movie theater I was in yelled out "what's the point?" during the movie. The point of this movie is to provide visual and aural candy for the eyes and the ears. TMJ has two very attractive and sexy leads in Sherilyn Fenn and Richard Tyson, and the soundtrack nicely compliments the action. No, it's not Shakespeare, but it's fun.

Zalman King loves to show beautiful women in his movies, without worrying too much about a plot or dialogue that makes sense. All my women friends that have seen this movie love it, because we as women all love looking at hunky Richard Tyson. Enough said.

Another erotic movie to check out is "Delta of Venus", also by Zalman King. It does actually have a plot along with lots of sex. Anais Ninn (the author of "Delta of Venus") would be proud of Mr. King's effort on this one.

This is one I have viewed many times, because it is such a great fantasy and a kick. Kristy MacNicol and the rest of the supporting cast is great too. I think this film will appeal more to women than to men. Just don't take it too seriously...
