I have found that the Iranian movies are deeply moving. I also enjoyed "The Color of Paradise". The director seems to get "real people" to act out the parts. It seems so realistic that it becomes a documentary. I believe it was either nominated for Oscar for best foreign movie or actually won it. I am not sure - perhaps someone will tell me !

Wonderful movie !

Surprise, it was released on Historia (French counterpart of the History Channel) Of course it was dubbed in French, but it did not lose any of its suspense, almost claustrophobic atmosphere. The paratroopers were third-dimensional in character and even the German prisoner seemed believable ! Not the all good for our side and all bad for the enemy kind of script ! Excellent ! Would compete well with today's movies like Pearl Harbour, etc. etc. !

I was very disappointed with this movie as it was more like a made-for-tv movie. The battle scenes, though grandiose (casts of thousands !!) were repetitive and not exciting at all. I should have read the number of stars it was given before going to see it !

I enjoyed the acting, however, the logic seems to be missing from this movie. There seem to be different types of ghosts, the people living in the house, the servants, the missing husband and then strange things happen to the key actors which defy logic and reason. The haunting had no point because why would some of the ghosts scare other ghosts if they are all dead. Strange things happen but to what end ? For instance the piano is played but one doesn't get to see the player, okay, so it's the ghost, but what was he trying to achieve ? Maybe someone might be able to make sense of this story but I was mystified by the all the happenings and perhaps that why it is called "a mystry" !

This animated movie ranks with the best cartoons. It is so well-done that one forgets that it is animated. The characters are well drawn and seem like real people. A change from the usual contrived fare which is usually predictable. It also delivers a message but without knocking you on the head with it or seeming preachy. It blends the old nursery rhymes and fairy tale legends with today's humour. A treat for young and old ! I will see it again and hope to purchase it when available !

I agree with the main summary of this mini-series ! The characters are not just all bad or all good (like many American movies). I enjoyed it immensely and the time just flew by so that instead of being a 6-hour series, it was engrossing enough to appear to be 2 hours' long. All the characters were finely drawn, and not just cardboard characters. Congratulations for a mini-series that still stands up in 2001! Personally. I found it better than the movie because it devoted more time to "flesh out" the characters !

Relied on the past reputation of Stanley Kubrick but did not quite make it ! Story of an aloof couple who discover that one of them nearly had an affair ! Wow ! Then there is a search by the husband to find himself ... Then other uninteresting characters enter the scene, then there is a pseudo-sex orgy which was not titillating and seemed to be there just for show !

Very disappointing and lusterless !

Watched this movie for the second time and it is a movie that stays a long time in your thoughts. The acting was splendid and third-dimensional. Also, no-one was wholly black or white, all had redeeming features and contributed to a wonderful depiction of the mores of that time.
