Immaculate (2024)
Another omen(imma and not good)
What a disappointment. This was supposed to be one of the best horror movies of the year. Well, no horror at all, only a few creepy scenes and an italian convent. Plot is very similar to The First Omen: young nun taking her vows, things arround nun community start being weird and things happen to her. The difference is that while The First Omen has character development, good story, keeps tension and nostalgia, Immaculate has nothing. Except for Sydney Sweeney, which I'm not a big fan, but she is ok, she keeps the movie standing.
Wouldn't reccomend this one. If you want this type of film please do youself a favor and watch The Omen prequel.
The Nun II (2023)
Nun necessary
Lame, lame movie. Story is pure nonsense. And boring. And slow. Now the good nun is Saint Lucy's relative? And why the little box with the saint's eyes is glowing?
What's with all the Harry Potter shiny stuff? Or with the final scene with all the wind? "How can we make it more epic? Lets add more wind ".
I didn't care about any character. We knew who the "bad guy" was all along. I watched it because I read it was better than the first one. Well, no. Is just as boring.
The only reason I keept awake while watching this was eating my birthday cake(yes, today is my birthday :)). Cake was really great, though.
Host (2020)
Not wanting to go to the bathroom alone either
Excellent. It's a simple story with a very simple way of telling it. Got you at the edge of your seat until the last second. Subtle things and good jump scares. What else does a horror movie needs?? If you got a good story and you know how to tell it you don't need much budget.
And I'm not friend of cast/ crew just a big horror movie fan. Cheers from Argentina :)
Defending Jacob (2020)
Good & entertaining show
I really enjoyed it. Good story. Not slow at all the rithm is good to introduce the conflict. Good acting. And it really makes you think and debate about the damages that media and gossip can do to someone's reputation. Narrative really allows you to emphasize and understand the characters and that is a major achievement of the show. It's entertaining and really enjoyable.
Jexi (2019)
Alexa, please kill Jexi
Basically Jexi's and Adam's relationship is almost as toxic as the friends in The kissing booth. She curses him for the first half of the movie, then she falls in love with him for 5 minutes and then get obsessed with him and tries to ruin his life until the end. And in the end he thanks his psyco OS because his new amazing job, his new girlfriend and 1000 new friends are "because of her"(yeah he achieved all that in like a month). If you want to watch the "funny parts" watch only the post credit scene and save yourselves 90 minutes of your life.
You Should Have Left (2020)
Watchable psychological Thriller
Not a horror movie and not an good Thriller, but a watchable one. You want to know what happens and it keeps you interested in the story. Yeah, it could have had a better twist on the story and add that extra something that is missing...
If you don't expect too much it will be just fine. And also we don't have many new movies this year so...
La Corazonada (2020)
Another Multitasking Movie
If I want to bake bread and want to see a movie too I would use this one.
Plot may be fine. But dialogue, characters and actors performances are made of bad quality cheese. In a world with sooo many good movies I cannot understand why someone in the showbiz would think "ok this looks good". A tree has more expression than Furriel. Some secondary characters had good moments (some scenes with Maite Lanata). Lopilato has not improved at all her "my mate is clogged" face. Still is better than the previous one in the saga: "Perdida".
El ángel (2018)
Tired of seeing Carlos pores
Story keeps your attention. Good performances if you see the film in mute... Every time actors talked they completely ruined their credibility. This was Lorenzo's first movie and you can tell a mile away. The extremely excess of subjective cámara contributed to highlight the actors poor performance. Watchable but let's face it, Argentina has better crime movies and biopics (much better)
